Fences licensing

Does the permanent license for Fences include multiple installs? I want to install Fences on my host computer and a few local VMs. So, one computer and one user, but multiple installations with various OSs. From what I've found this far, it appears that the permanent license can support five installations, but I haven't found that confirmed anywhere yet.

Thanks!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. When you install on those multiple VMs even its on the same machine. Those multiple VMs will still be count as one activation of each VM. For Fences there is a Multi-Device (5 activation) subscription model and another model for permanent license model. For more information on Fences upgrade FAQ please refer here: https://forums.stardock.com/508196/fences-4-upgrade-faq

Thanks

I think you should be able to purchase one Permanent license and than add additional Permanent license at a discount. But, I not sure if there is a 5-activation pack model for permanent license. However, I have forwarded your question to Stardock Support Team for their assistance. Please keep an eye on this thread for any updates. We appreciate your feedback and patience.

Thanks

You are actually talking about two different things, activation qty and billing.

A permanent or 'Lifetime' license just means it's not a subscription product and you will only ever get in-version updates (4.0 -> 4.1, etc).

The activation count, in contrast, is just that, the concurrent activation count any key has.

The VMs, since they are seen as (and are) unique PCs, would occupy an activation count.  Thus, if you had a host PC taking a license, every unique VM on said host PC would also use one.

That said, this can be easily managed in a few ways.
