Still waiting...

GOG (standalone) continues to be on 3.0.

Does anybody from Stardock read on their own forum here?

(Yes same text but unfortunately it still applies.)

And there is now also a dedicated Steam thread about this topic: GOG version still missing v3.01 update...

Still no update.

Also: Not everybody is looking for that remastered version. The reason I got FELH in the first place is the then already existing mods. As it looks to me those mods wont work in the remastered version.

So yes Im still looking for that 3.01 GOG offline installer.

Its been one year since OP.

Still no update nor response.

Apparently someone from Stardock was active in this forum recently but "missed" this thread?

Unexpectedly 3.01 is now available on GOG (standalone, dont know about Galaxy). Havent tested it though so dont know if it works.

So I did test it a little bit and it does work at least a little bit. This was done under Linux/Bottles. I got it to run after fixing issue/s and downgrading gfx. Issues being at least the font problem. Game crashed on first try at first end-turn, this didnt repeat after downgrading gfx.

So I did try more. Wasnt able to make it run properly on Linux. Not with Bottles nor Heroic nor Lutris. Issues were:

  1. Fonts/Sizing not working properly. This was at least partially fixable.
  2. Mouse Cursor flickering. One system (Heroic? not sure) didnt have this issue. Setting option to Hardware cursor "fixes" it in general. This is also a bit of an issue on Windows.
  3. Large Address Aware didnt work. Wasnt able to fix this on Lutris (with low effort). Didnt check if the other launchers/systems also had this issue. Consequently out of memory errors on big maps.
  4. Random crashes. Not so many that it was unplayable but more than on Windows.

Edit: Most GOG games are easy to run on Linux. If games dont run its usually that the .exe (game or installer) refuses to start properly and just quits without error. Havent had serious issues like with FELH here before.

On Windows (Edit: old Windows 7 computer which I didnt want to use) which I tried then it worked much better without extra hassle. 3.01 seemed alot more stable than 2.4 was.  Some of the "weird" bugs are probably fixed too. It still has random crashes though. And overall its still a very buggy game.
