Error Code -205

I've been using Start10 and Fences 3 for a while and recently purchased Object Desktop.  I couldn't see a way to upgrade from Fences 3 to Fences 4 within Object Desktop so I uninstalled Fences 3, but when I installed Fences 4 via Object Desktop it prompted me to enter a product key.  Putting in my Object Desktop product key gives me error code -205.  I've tried to activate with my Stardock account with the same result.

I think this must be to do with my previous Fences 3 registration as I've also installed a couple of apps that I didn't previously own and they worked perfectly.  Any ideas about next steps?

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, if your subscription still active for Object Desktop, Fences 4 should be listed in your Object Desktop listing . https://store.stardock.com/myaccount.

As for -205 error please refer here: https://forums.stardock.com/486311/accounts-and-activation-support-faq#activationerror

And to review and deactivate old activation please use this guide: https://forums.stardock.com/486311/accounts-and-activation-support-faq#reviewactivations

Thanks

Hi Basj, thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, I can confirm that Fences 4 is listed when I go to My Account -> My Downloads -> Object Desktop Manager -> Individual Downloads.  I have been able to install it via Object Desktop and it runs.  The only issue is with activation.

I saw the article that said that error -205 could be caused by non-Western characters in the computer's name, and I've checked that this is not the case.

My original copy of Fences 3 was purchased a long time ago under a different account, or possibly even as a guest, and I don't have access to the associated email address any more.  It's certainly not associated with my current email address so I was wondering if clearing a registry key somewhere might fix the issue -- it looks like I've got the right to run Fences 4 but something in the system is remembering my old Fences 3 information so it's getting confused when I try to register Fences 4.  I don't want to go digging in my registry if there's an easier fix though.

Hello,

You can merge the old account into your currently account by raising a ticket. Please raise support ticket using the link below, use the "account merge/ Email change" option. Include all information details. Remember to record down the ticket number for future reference if needed. Do not raise multiple ticket, that will make your ticket back to the end of the line. Send once and wait. Ticket will be answer by the order they send in.

As for Fences 4 activation confusion, please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Just make sure to redownload the latest version from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Thank you,
