Stuffit download

Be carefull with this download to open Zips. We had some problems (Blue Screens in XP) and had to uninstall + remove all associated with Stuffit from the Registry in order to get XP working correctly again. I am not sure what is wrong with it because last year I used Stuffit for several months.

I never could get stuffit to even work on my computer and I have XP too.

XP has a built-in ability to open .zip files. No need for any other program, though I still use WinZip and WinRAR

I like winRAR. I just got used to it over time and now its all i use. Its integration into the shell is better the inherent ability of xp.

I have an older version of WinRAR 2.71, but I still use it to compress everything I burn to a disc, because it compresses better than WinZip and it's still the easiest way to create volumes for floppies.

my favorite program for expanding rars in unrar. its a little dos based proggy that you can configure to be in the right click menu. you right click on the file and choose unrar then the file decompresses into the same directory. no interface just point click and done

I kinda got hooked on ZipCentral soon after I started using a computer. One thing I love about it, is that it will open all the renamed .zip extentions (.wba, .logonxp, etc..) without renaming them to zip. I need to check out WinRAR again..... but I really don't deal with all that many .rar files.

you can do that with winRAR too. right click and in the open with menu choose winrar.

winRAR and winACE are my personal faves.
Both have better compression ratios and seem to be capable of opening all zipped files I come across.
I've found Stuffit to be less user friendly on a PC, more suited to my Mac ....

What about ObjectZip from Stardock? What are users opions of this product? It supports the right click unzip also.

i use Izarc... it will zip/unzip almost any type of .zip file
