Start 11

Desktop Folder locked

Long time user of START and FENCES

I keep my Pc on all the time. Today, I clicked my mouse which wakes up the PC. On the screen, Microsoft starts an update (don't what it was). After restarting , fences did not work - all my icons were on my desktop. Start11 no longer allowed me make changes. I could not move any icons into a fence. The system put them back on the desktop. I uninstalled fences but could make new folders to drop the icons into. I wanted to see if something in start11 setting would help but could not get to them.

I then unistalled Start11 hoping it would clear this problem up but I still had the same problem.

I began digging and saw my Desktop folder was locked. I tried to update its properties to unlocked but no go. When I get to the dialog box and set it up to unlock the desktop folder - press NEXT, nothing happens. no NEXT dialog box appears,. How  do I get control of my desktop? Can I reinstall start and fences to see if they will take control of my desktop folder or do I need to do something first??

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. You can do the purge for both Start11 and Fences using these guide [Start11] and [Fences]. Reboot after the purge. Retest if that return your control on your desktop. If it still not, than something else is causing it.
