cPanel Users! Have you seen these Icons?

The FauxS-XP Icons are a few years old now. And aside form on last round of Updates, to include 128x128 in all of them, I have pretty much moved on with my life.  One of the nice side effects of there success was that I have earned a pretty good Reputation on the internet, and with software developers world wide. And it has given me the chance to do things like the Orion Iconpack, and allowed me to be able to afford to do several free skins, such as FauxS-TOON, and LaST. And for that I thank everyone who has downloaded any of the FauxS-XP icons.

The down side to this is that they (The FauxS-XP Icons) have gone on to be some of, if not the most, Ripped Icons in the world. My Policy on all of the graphics in The FauxS-X Project, has been very strait forward. If you want to use them in any freeware program. Then fine. If you want to use them for personal use, fine. However if you want to use any of my Icons in a commercial use, (This includes Shareware) then you have to play a one time License fee. I do not consider this to be to much to ask for.

In the early days, I was a bit more forgiving. But now it is becoming ridiculous.
Just one, of the more obvious examples, out there is cPanel this is a company that charges several Thousand dollars a pop to license there software. http://cpdemo:[email protected]:2082/

I have licensed these Icons to clients, (I am checking in to this to see if this is just a misunderstanding) for the use in cPanel Themes. And unless they changed there name, this is not one of them.

This is just one example, As most of you know I am a big TechTV fan, (It is pretty much the only channel I watch.) and I have lost track now of how many times they have been showing a program, and blam, there’s my Recycle Bin, or My folders.

To top it off, I have several times now, been accused of Ripping cPanel Icons and claming that they are my own. That is just too sad to even laugh at.

So what I am wondering. Is who out there has seen these Icons in different apps? I am more or less wondering how badly I am being screwed. I don’t think I will be able to do much about the FauxS-XP Icons at this point. But I am starting to re-think my policy on future suites.

The Icons I am referring to are any of the Fallowing.

And any other FauxS-X Project Icons.

Thanks for the help.

Paul........I can only offer sympathy. There have been a couple of times when one of our guys on this site has pointed out a ripping site on the message board and when i have dwelved into the sites a bit deeper i have found quite a few of our WC authors works on there (including yours) doubtless with no permission. I cannot say that i have come across your icons in any actual apps though but we have an "eagle eyed" bunch here and i am sure that they will be happy to tell you if they come across any.

Just a thought have you discussed this with Jono as i wonder if he has had the same problems and if so a united front from you guys might show these "thieves" that you both mean business

Paul, with cPanel alone your pretty much getting turned inside out and everything but kissed. I did notice cPanel using your icons but before I commented upon it I considered that no one would do such a blatant theft and they must have your permission or you had sold the rights to them...

sorry to hear otherwise and it pisses me off to see that is exactly what they did, steal your property....

I will take notice from now on and definitly mention anything I see on the cormerrcial side and also private side of things. We go through a lot of Network Utilities and packages each year testing them out to make sure they will not blow a clients network up and such, also other computer apps and utilities...
