I don't know. I haven't been around that long and it seems that more people use this forum for everything than they use the Help and Skinning forums.

You wouldn't be asking for help if you are requesting something. This is a good idea in my opinion. So I will start.

I would like a cursor of a gorilla hand. Hairy and whatnot. makes a fist to pound on buttons, and other gorillaish activities animated for the other cursor activities.


Who know maybe I'll make it sometime if I have the time.

hehe no no, i mean.. they made a whole SECTION for help requests but everybody posts them in General. i think its a nice idea but my poor attempt at a joke was: will people actually use the system?

A desktop that looks like one of the old wooden school desk with an inkwell/recyclebin object. Pencil tray objectbar. Windows would look like spiral notebook paper. Cursors....No.2 pencil, an eraser. and use the Comic MS Sans font.

I don't know how to make most things, bootskins, windowblinds, cursors, definetly not winamp skins or windows media player thingys. I'm not but a humble artist, anything requiring program text besides html or lingo and i'm lost.

I would love to see this thread work, but forgive me if I have doubts about it. As DesignCaddy pointed out, there is already a Help section and a Skinning section, and people still post whatever they want wherever they want with an amazing lack of thought or consideration for others.

*sigh* Was going to rant some more, but thought better of it...

As for my request, I would like a DX object that will send Travis' gorilla through the net to pound on the heads of the authors of some of the really idiotic posts I've seen here...

I saw that one (I went through the whole dern cursor library earlier today looking for something like a gorilla hand). The reason for the gorilla is the skin that I am working on. Its kind of turning into a gorillaish theme and I am going to try to make it as complete as possible and I really didn't want to make the gorilla cursor. But I guess I'll have to.

It's simple, requested or not, most people only do requests they WANT to do lol, but it's better to ask and may or may not recieve, than never ask at all.

The incentive to skin, particularly for Windowblinds which is a complex proggy/skin needs to come from either monetary reward or personal enthusiasm.

It's as simple as that.

When a decent skin can take from days to weeks to complete it's not just something anyone will do on a whim and a suggestion.  They must actually 'want' to do it to devote that amount of time and effort.

In the good old days skinning was easier as the proggies were more primitive and requests were more frequently accommodated willingly.  Everyone did 'requests' of one form or another, but you won't see so many now.

Best hope is that a request might spark someone's interest in doing it and it'll be done.

But remember, apart from the commercial skinning/ers people do this for pure volluntary enjoyment, so requests can never be assumptive or demanding...

, its quite simple. I am willing to take requests but I do want to have 'something' for it.
Then I don't mean money but something much better for a starting commercial skinner.
If you want a skin of a hummer or something, go and mail the owner of the company and ask for permissions to call it 'the official' skin. If you get that permissions I am willing to take a look at it.

I would like to have a whole suite of skins for every program I use for every skin alexandrie and treetog have done. (with wb at the latest possible state) Too much ? Yes, You are right...

hmm a request huh ?...really most of u have made killer skins and i have used many of them....the only thing id really like to see is a WB in a style like TSF's executive suite. of all the skins styles here, realistic looking ones are my fave....
