Theme Manager vs. WinStyles

What is the difference between Theme manager and Winstyles? In Stardock Central, both show up and have the same descriptions. Both have the same version number also (2.00.008). Theme Manager has a date of 12/9/2003 while WinStyles has a date of 8/22/2003.

Theme Manager uses Object Desktop components to change your entire desktop at once by applying a suite of skins, icons and themes.

WinStyles uses the Object Desktop components to change your entire desktop at once by applying a suite of skins, icons and themes.


I think that Theme Manager is a replacement for Winstyles, but I don't understand why both show up in Stardock Central. Anyone care to enlighten me?

thememanager is the newer version of winstyles. I don't think it should show up.

It does...only in SDC, but if you run either proggie from there, it runs the same one.

I believe it shows up because of the way SDC updates the products. Some people who have Object Desktop or other Stardock product subscriptions don't run SDC on a regular basis, and therefore could still have WinStyles installed on their system. I would guess that the WinStyles reference will eventually disappear from SDC at some point when Stardock has decided that the transition is complete.

You can disable it from showing from View->Show/hide apps.
