Please help a Noob.

Hi,

I am new to Stardock and WindowBlinds in general. I have purchased and installed all of the main components (WB4, Theme Manager, CursorXP, etc.).

I just bought the ToonXP Theme and was very surprised that there was NO readme.txt file included with it! For those of us who are new I think that this would be an obvious thing to put in a purchased package.

Anyway, there were two parts to the package:

Toon-XP_thememanager.exe
sd-toon-xp_dxpacks_and_wallpaper.zip

Problems:

1. The Toon-XP_thememanager.exe automatically installs a new copy of Theme Manager. Frankly, this kind of ticked me off because I did NOT need another copy of ThemeManager as I already had it installed. It did screw up my pre-existing install though. The easy answer is not to install it, HOWEVER it appears that the only way to get the actual Theme file is to install the archive. Is there another way?

2. What do I do with the DXPACK files in the other zip archive?

3. What do I do with the BMP images (wallpaper)?

Again, I know some of this is second nature to those of you who have used WindowBlinds for years, but for a newcomer it is pretty obscure.
Is there a better place to post this question? Thanks for any help...

ok i cant help with the theme manager but the bmp is a wallpaper. rt clik on ur desk top choose properties, thenback ground tab.. then theres a browse button at lower right side .. use it to search for the folder containing the bmp. then select the bmp u want to use and hit apply ...the DX pac is for those who run desktop X.. if u have desktopx then just dbl clik the pack and it will autoinstall to the desktopx.. if u dont have desktopx then its basically a extra file u cant use ...

I thought maybe there was a place where the .bmp needed to go? Is there a proper place to store them within the C:\Program Files\Stardock directory?

i store mine in the my picutures folder in my doc's, it dont mater where they are stored tho... but its nice to have them all in one spot so its easyer to find them

Hm. I cannot double-click the DXPack file as Windows does not associate the file with DesktopX. I do have DesktopX installed though. Any ideas?

start desktop x rt clik on desktop select load new theme or theme browser. i cant remember which it is ... in the browser thers a button to browse ur pc to find a theme use it to find the theme u have and select it .. that should install it in to the DX browser window .. then u can slect the theme and hit apply ..

or u can rt clik on the file select open with/ choose program.in the popup window look for desktop x and select it if is there .. if not use the browse button to go to the desktopx folder and select the desktopx.exe. that will also tell your pc to associate the files with desktopx ...

The best place to put your wallpaper BMP images is in c:\windows. Then when you go to display properties, desktop tab, all your wallpapers will show there, and you can easily choose them.
