well it worked for a few days after I updated windows and the graphics driver, now all my icons are all over the desktop again and non in the fences. I am not going to do this everyday and put the icons back in their fences. If I dont find a cure soon fences is gone. any help out there please
it took around an hour to put all the icons back in their respective fences and then I rebooted praying. To my amazement the icons stuck in their fences. so this seems to be an intermittent problem. as previously mentioned, I did update both windows 11 and my Nvidia card to the latest drivers. But left overnight something weird happened and all my fences became empty and all the icons all over the place.

Sorry to hear you are having issues. From my experience, this might probably due to OneDrive Desktop Sync get turn on after your last Windows update. It have been reported before by others with same symptom you mentioned above. What you did by manually re-layout your icons into Fences should stick. Just make sure to save backup/layout snapshot after your have done it.
