Cannot get multi-line taskbar

Problem: After upgrading from Start11 v1.5 to v2.08 a few days ago I have lost the ability to have multiple lines of buttons in the taskbar.

I have tried messing with the settings and restarting explorer, but I have not found any combination of settings that allows multiple rows in the taskbar.

OS: Windows 11 Pro for Workstations 23H2
Build: 22631.3880

I have the following settings:
    Windows:
two monitors with taskbar displayed on first monitor only
        automatically hide the taskbar: off
combine taskbar buttons and hide labels: Never
        taskbar alignment: Left
        Stardock Fences 4.22 is installed
    Start11:
        enhanced taskbar: On
        buttons are never combined
        buttons have icon and text
button style is Windows 11 (but Windows 10 looks identical)
I don't have any taskbar pins
Allow taskbar to be resized: On
Vertically center the taskbar buttons: Off
        Enable Start11 autohide mode: Off
        Show folders as submenus: Off
        Manage filtered folders: None

Any thoughts about why I might be having this problem?

Thanks

Rob

Are you able to grad the top edge of the taskbar until tthe cursor changes to the "Resize" cursor and drag up to increase the size?

This will allow multiple rows of buttons, However the System Tray will remain one row.

Thanks.  No, I cannot grab the top of the toolbar anymore -- the cursor does not change.

The cursor can sometimes be a little touchy. Move it up and down very slowly several times and see if it changes to resize.

No such luck I'm afraid.  Absolutely no change in the cursor on or around the top of the taskbar.

If you have the taskbar size set to small, try setting it to medium.
Also, make sure the taskbar is not locked.

Taskbar size is set to medium (and I have tried other sizes without any luck).

BUT.... I bet the taskbar is locked!!  Brilliant idea.   BUT, when I right-click on the toolbar I don't get an unlock option.

I see the option to show the "Win+X menu" or the "Start11 menu" in the Start11 setup, but in both cases I only get two options when I right click the taskbar: 'Task Manager' and 'Taskbar Settings'.  I have restarted Explorer after each but no joy.  Obviously that doesn't look right.  (However Win+X does work from the keyboard.)  I did try unlocking the taskbar in the registry, but, unsurprisingly, that didn't work either.

It seems that you are on to something.  Got any more ideas about how to unlock the taskbar?

Thanks again,

Rob

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Right click on taskbar should show you lock taskbar option.

Thank you.

You should have the same options as Basj above. I also get these same options.

Try toggling the "Allow the taskbar to be resized" on and off while clicking the taskbar between each toggle.

Hi Peliard,

I tried your suggestion, but it didn't help!

A long running process on my PC finished, so I tried a reboot.  Still no luck!

Then I tried re-installing (which I figure was probably on your mind) -- and now it WORKS!!  BRILLIANT!!  (Multi-lines and a proper menu on right click.  And centering and other options now work.  Really excellent.)

Thanks so much for your patience and persistence in narrowing down the problem.  It looks like I don't have any karma yet, but if I did I'd give you a bunch!

Thanks again.  I can now relax after a few days of frustration.

Incidentally, when I originally installed v2 of Start11 it was over v1.5.  I wonder if that was part of the problem.

Anyway, all the best and I hope that the world treats you as well as you treat others.

Thanks,

Rob

Thanks Basj.

It was the lack of a proper right-click menu that led me towrds re-installing Start11 and then it worked!  So thank you,

I would have tried it sooner but I had a multi-day process chugging away in the background.

Thanks again,

Rob

PS Brilliant product.  I can't live without my usual 4 lines of buttons.
