Invalid Start Mode: archive offset

Can't reinstall

Every time I click any setup file for stardock products I receive a IRSetup error: Invalid Start Mode: archive offset. But I am just trying to reinstall fences and running the batch file didn't work  for me, what else can I do to run the setup installer? Or can someone send me another uninstaller to ensure everything related to Fences is properly uninstalled? Please help! This issue is becoming intolerable.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need to know more on your system and issue.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build numbers. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Start11 version you have installed and tried to uninstall?
  3. Post a screenshot of that IRSetup error.
  4. Are you on ARM CPU base system?
  5. You mentioned "batch file", which batch file was you referring to?
  6. What error did you get when you do normal uninstall step?

Thank you.

Please try these steps suggested by support. https://forums.stardock.com/530177/get;3941860. Once that done.

Try these steps to download new installer: https://forums.stardock.com/530177/get;3941840

Try it and report back.

I found a way to get the installer to run, I had to send an argument to the installer and create a temp directory to get it to run, but even after I installed Fences, I receive the error "Fences does not appear to be loaded. You may need to reinstall Fences."  The settings windows will open but I can't create a Fence.

For other people who can't run the installer create a temp folder on your C: Drive, name it MYTEMP.

Open command prompt and enter this in the command line

D:\folder\setup.exe /T:C:\MYTEMP

But change the name of folder to the folder where your setup file for fences is located, keep the part on the right the same so just add the address of the setup file to the left side and hit enter, then you won't receive an IRSetup error

We appreciate your input.

For your "Fences does not appear to be loaded" issue. Please check and make sure Fences is set to be loaded twice on Startup. Refer here: https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1331232868/Fences+is+not+starting+after+boot

How can I add the second instance of Fences to the startup folder, do I have to add it in the registry? I only have one instance listed in the startup tab, how can I change this manually?

No, it should be automatically created when you install Fences. Not sure why it still not working on your system. Are you on Windows 11 Pro version. If you do please try test installing in Windows Sandbox: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#sandbox.

I'm on win 11 pro, its not creating two instances of fences in the startup tab, I just purged and reinstalled and its still not working, nor is Start11. It definitely needs an update because I still receive the IRSetup error when I try to run the installers, I have to pass an argument to both installers to get them to install Fences 5 or Start 11, and i'm using the latest installers from my account. I would like a refund if you can't get these applications to work.

Never mind, I would like to keep the applications because I have them installed on other systems. But I would like to resolve this, purging is not the resolution.

Have you tried the Sandbox test I mentioned above? If you did what is the result?

I was able to get Start11 running by running Stat11_64.exe manually, I added it to startup as a shortcut, but I can't get Fences to run.

Delete any Stardock installers that may be in your downloads folder.

Open up an in-private \ incognito window in your browser.  In the address, paste this address in:

https://cdn.stardock.us/downloads/public/software/fences/v5/Fences5_setup_sd.exe

Go do your downloads folder and install the file it downloaded.
