Background in Bootskin

I just made a bootskin using Paint Shop Pro 8, and the problem is that when I preview it in Bootskin, the progress bar looks fine. When I install it however it appears to have a white rectangle where it is moving back and forth. I have the coordinates correct, and it seems weird that the preview would show it properly. Thanks.

The BG colour of the progress MUST be the first colour in the palette

BTW: The preview although it works, it does not reflect the colour palette hiccup that MS left in the system, a futures version of Bootskin (Truecolour) will get around this bug

Ok I set the BG to the first color in the palette, but that still didn't work. I made sure I applied the boot screen again before restarting. The first color in the palette however is white, and that is the color of the rectangle.

Adrian, are the two palette's (the one for the main image, and the one for the progress bar) the same? They MUST be identical. They can't just have the same number of colors, the HAVE to be the exact same palette.

I now think that your problem is that the Progress bar size should be 22x9 and that you may have created one smaller than thi (not sure) if so them the BG behind the Progress graphic should be coloured using the first colour.

MS set this as permanent so any PB that show a bg must be colour as this :0

save the palette from the background image and then load it into the prog. bar so that you have two identical color pallettes, or "color tables."

the first color in the palet is the background color for the progress bar. Even if you have the size wrong the background of the progress bar will be the first color in the palet. so if you don't want the background of the progress bar to be white change the first color of the palet to a color other than white
