Constant reminder messages but will not install!

LOVE Fences but it's been frustrating the heck out of me for weeks now. I get constant reminder messages to install an update(?) but it always leads to an error message that it "Could not open the uninstall executable" blahblah blah.

I finally said maybe it's that I still have Fences 3, so I went ahead and subscribed to Fences 5. Approved, tried to install, stymied immediately:

"Could not open the uninstall executable for writing: Encountered a sharing violation while accessing C:\Program Files(x86)\Stardock\Fences\Jua5.1.dll." Tried several times, but I get the same error messages every single time. Fwiw: It keeps saying to shut off any uninstalls, but I'm NOT UNINSTALLING ANYTHING!

Do I need to uninstall my existing Fences 3 that I've been using for years? I just wish I could get phone support; clear this up in a minute. Anyone who can help, thank you!

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. From what I know, Stardock do not do phone support. Stardock do forum support base. Try this,

Please try purge and reinstall steps as mention here : [Link]. Do the purge as mention in the guide, re download the latest version that available to you from your account page. Reboot after the purge. Reinstall and reboot again after the installation. Retest and report back here.

Your saved layout snapshots should still be there after the purge, but if you worried you can use this guide to backup your layout snapshot: https://forums.stardock.com/486084/fences-support-faq#backupsnapshots

Have you done the purge part yet when you see these?

Hi Basj, I did what you said and IT WORKED: Fences is now working properly, and it seems that the constant reminder message has gone away. The only thing is, earlier today I must have "done something," because Fences vanished. I restored the backup and now it's fine, but wondering I did....? Let's assume it's fine....I'll report back if it happens again.

Hello again.

This usually happen if you accidentally moved your Fences to another Fences desktop page. You can learn how to navigate it or disable it to make sure it don't happen again.
