Fences disappeared after reboot

Icons are gone

from Stardock Forums

I shut down my computer and powered back on. Fence is gone and all icons are gone too. I don't even have a list of them.

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Need more information please.

  1. Windows full version and OS Build number. Please use Winver.exe.
  2. Fences full version number.
  3. Does fences still running in the background? If you right click on your desktop do you see "Configure Fences" appear in one of the context menu items. If you on Windows 11, might need to click on "Show more option" before you see it.

Please try holding shift and right clicking the desktop. Does this cause them to reappear? Similar, does opening the Fences settings cause them to reappear?

 

If not, finally, does right clicking the desktop and from the “View” menu selecting “Show desktop icons” resolve the situation?

I'm replying to my own post.  I've had pc's since they first came out in 1983 and feel very stupid about now.  I found my missing fence and icons.  Somehow, I managed to create a new desktop page.  Since this was not something I used, I had no idea it was there.  It took a lot of patience and work to figure it out, but I did and was able to fix everything.  Even those of us experienced folks learn a little something every now and then. :blush:
