FireFox 0.8 Download Mirror

If you can't get the download from the Mozilla server, you can get the official Win32 version at TripleHelix at http://download.triplehelix.info/FireFox_0-8/

People from WinCustomize are welcome to download it from that address (I'm hosting it) but please do not share the link as I only have enough bandwidth reserved for it for 7,000 downloads and this isn't the only place I have posted the link.

Anybody else have problems with auto scrolling? It's not smooth like in IE but keeps jumping down a few lines.

wait for the extensions to come back online and get smoothscroll. its the smoothest scrolling I have ever used.

Fill me in on these 'extensions'. And we are talkin about clicking the 3rd mouse button and scrolling right?

there is also one for that. extensions are addons for firebird..err firefox...that add extended abilities to firefox. There are many of them. My favorites for windows are the smoothscroll (when you roll the wheel to scroll it scrolls smoothly), tabbrowser extension which makes the already great tab system of firefox even better, and ieview which will allow you to open a link in ie through the right click menu if it won't load right in firefox. In your bookmarks there should be a folder called firefox & mozilla information and in it there is a link to the extensions if you haven't gotten rid of the standard bookmarks that come with firefox.

Right now they don't seem to be up and working yet, but once they do I suggest that you get them.

A quick list of the extensions I've found to be most useful:

Adblock - allows you to keyword filter out advertisers
TBE (Tabbrowser Extensions) - makes tabbed browsing even better
Text/Plain - turns those pesky text links into actual links

And two more that I simply like: Smoothwheel and ieview (which I use for bank sites)

And to address a concern that I received via email, Firefox does not affect Incredimail in any way shape or form.

I have added the builds

firefox-0.8-i386-pc-solaris2.8.tar.gz
firefox-0.8-i386-unknown-netbsdelf1.6.tar.bz2
firefox-0.8-sparc-sun-solaris2.8.tar.gz

to the contrib sub-directory.

My server is also fast enough that it only takes 14 seconds to download a build (sample size 6 Mb) as opposed to the several minutes it takes on the mozilla server.

Other mirrors: http://www.mozilla.org/mirrors.html (for some reason they found it necessary to hide that page deep within the site).

I've added a ton of optimized builds to the server.
