Make sure you check the box under Total exclusion..Ignore this app and do not skin it.

Sorry, should have added that the miscreant application is Paint Shop Pro Version 8.1 and that I have Windowblinds 4.2.

You should have added this to your origional thread. This alone doesn't make sense.

Moved your other thread here.... as WOM said, it made no sense alone.

May I ask why you want to disable PSP 8.1 from being skinned? I'm just curious, because I use PSP8.1, and have no problems.

My apologies for my "unthreaded" second message. I did think I was adding it to the thread (sigh). Sure hope this one is inline!

Koasati, sometimes the skins I use make the working window of PSP too dark (such as Rogue Proton) . I like it nice and light.

I do have the "total exclusion" box checkmarked. I have also tried telling WB to use a specified (light) skin for PSP such as Ivory by Treetog but no joy.

No great mystery that I can't figure this out if I can't even thread my messages

I've had this problem in the past........ setting something up in the Per App exclusion made no difference. The problem with helping you figure out why it's happening to you is that I don't why it was happening to me.
What version of WB are you using? I realize you've already said you're using 4.2, but is this the stand-alone version, or one of the betas, available via ObjectDesktop?

Koasati, I think that I have solved it for me. Another post (Michael Gallaher--I tried to find out where but then lost my entire reply and am now retyping it--gosh darn it I am message board challenged!) had same question and I believe Essencay pointed out that excluded apps had Windows Classic applied to them. I tweaked the appearance of Windows Classic a bit and am quite happy with the result. Not sure why I can't get it to use specified skin but maybe I should stop while I am relatively happy. I have been known on more than one occassion (flat learning curve) to destroy my system trying to figure these things out as I have little knowledge and no skill. Anyway, if I could link the thread or point you to it I would. Thank you for your help and interest. Much appreciated.

The thread I am referring to is in Help and is called Excluding an App from Skinning by Michael Gallaher.

China Cat, that is brilliant. If you have the time, could you please tell me how to do that? (I am still hurting from having to retype my entire reply when I tried to refer to another thread).

Hmmm, it isn't the little icon underneath the smilies. One of these days I am going to press the button that ejects me from my desk chair through the roof of the house. I just GOTTA stop pressing icons.

Okay, Koasati, just to let you know, I know have PSP8 being skinned using a specific skin different than the "general" skin I am using system wide. My problem was not reading the labels (hard to imagine, really, isn't it?) I had a specific skin chosen but I also had the application totally excluded. I was approaching this bottom up ie. don't skin this app with general skin but use the skin I have specified. All logic and reason dictate that the options are top down as in skin this application using this skin. Followed by exclude app woudl leave the app unskinned. Yes, it has been a hard day.

Sorry, I'm only laughing coz I've been known to do things of this nature. Unable to see settings right under my nose.  ............. my own worst enemy at times.
