EMAIL VIRUS BEING SENT AROUND!!!!

ummm.... there's really nothing new about that.
I (and plenty of others) have been receiving alot of email with that MyDoom virus attached for the last three weeks.....

Oh....how passe....

I can give you somewhere between 50 and 100 versions of 'test' or 'Hi' or 'You are an idiot' or.....ad nauseum,,,,

My favs are the "Undeliverable" emails that I supposedly sent to non-existant accounts on my own domain. 

#6, i have got like 7 of the undeliverable emails in my mail . com account and i was wondering who the flip was sending emails to those accounts. thanks for the heads up Koasati.

the really funny mails are those 'microsoft virus update patch'. At the same moment there is this little popup under my screan making me crazy to update

remember microsoft does not e mail the general public about patches they only would do so if u had e mailed them first about a specific problem u were having .. so any e mail claiming to be from MS about a patch id moren likely ... a virus ...

a good rule of thumb is don't open anything anyone sends you unless you've spoken with them over the phone or in person. this goes for aol, earthlink, the 'bank', or any software company. basically don't engage in any kind of interaction with someone claiming to be from something else unless you've gone to them or you get a letter in the mail.

knew a guy who just had his identity stolen.. got a message from 'earthlink' telling him they needed to update his account info because a check bounced or something. looked legit. he handed over his account number and they robbed him a few thousand $'s.

know a family member who had their credit card info stolen from a 'utility'.

know numerous people who have had their credit card info stolen through aol.

know many more people who have opened random zip files called 'test' from someone they havn't spoken to in years.

if everyone exercised a little more caution or common sense, the spam and infections wouldn't be half as bad as it is.

edit: really.. if you owe anyone any kind of money or they need some kind of info, they will write to you first. the only thing the post office is good for anymore is validating time, date, and authenticity.

Thank God I have no Credit Cards... Anyway, I have never got a email virus. In fact I have never had a virus on this system yet.

Well, same virus, but they're getting funnier by the day... Here's a variant I received today at work.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
Downloading of Movies, MP3s and Software is illegal and punishable by law.

We hereby inform you that your computer was scanned under the IP ***.**.***.***
The contents of your computer were confiscated as an evidence, and you will be indicated.
You get the charge in writing, in the next few days.
In the reference code: #25540, are all files, that we found on your computer.

The sender address of this mail was masked, to fend off mail bombs.

The mail includes an attachment named "reference code" which contains the virus.
The email came from Germany.

Ah well, at least I got a bit of a chuckle out of the ingenuity of this chap.

Protected here too. I get it in one form or another (document.doc, document.zip, document.exe) 2 or more times a day.
