Columns and rows of icons have changed after update

Rows and columns of icons are incorrect

Hello BASJ & the community,

For the longest time I haven't updated my Fences software (subscription) because the software would not remember my icons and my screens (monitors) would be switched incorrectly.  This had forced me to stick with my current version of Fences until the issue had been resolved.  I had waited a very long time for this issue to be fixed but it never seemed to get fixed.  Recently to my surprise after updating my Fences, it did correctly stick my Fences and Icons to the proper screen and all of my Fences appear to be working correctly with exception to the number of icon (rows & columns)s inside a fence.

I'm not sure what to do, I have tried changing my icon size as well as CTRL scroll with the mouse wheel but it only changes the size of my icons and not the columns and rows.

I had to revert my install due to all of my icons looking wonky on the screen.

Here you can see that in Fences v 5.04 (most current updated Win 11 Pro) my icons are 4x7 for this particular fence, with update to Fences 5.86 rev 8 I discovered this issue (new to me).

Sorry if this sounds confusing, basically I want my screen to look as it did in version 5.04 but with the most current stable version of your software.

Currently I'm back to Fences 5.04 until I get some type of idea of what to do in order to resolve this issue.

Looking inside Regedit --->   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

My values to Icon Spacing & IconVerticalSpacing are both the same value of -1125 (before and after the installed update).

So I'm not sure where else to look for assistance.

I like your software very much but I'm discouraged to update my five subscriptions (software) for the fact that every-time an update comes out it breaks the settings that I have that are working for me.  Also most recently I was presented with a download link but never given the option to go to a download link so that I may select the version that I wanted, even with my subscription.  I'm guessing that I'm running the beta now?  I certainly hope not, I always prefer to wait for the stable release.

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate your assistance.

I hope this does not read as difficult to understand, I suffer from a head injury while in the military and fractured my skull.  Unfortunately can make things difficult for me at times.... Please be patient :)

Both of my monitors are identical in make and model.

I tried to include information which might help stir me in the right direction.

Monitor:  (left & right) LG 25UM58-P 25-Inch 21:9 UltraWide IPS Monitor with Screen Split

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. Do know that since Fences 5.5 update, there is new layout engine. Please refer here: https://forums.stardock.com/528229/. If you have layout issue since the new engine introduced. Please refer to the troubleshooting steps mention in the first post of that thread. Try those steps and might need a little tweak to make your layout look like previous version. Once that is set, it should stick. Report back if you still have issue.

Thank you.

Hello Basj and the community,

I just wanted to get back with you and let you know that all is well now on my end, the link you sent me worked perfectly on my end.

I had to tweak everything around a little bit (it took me all morning but it's now completed and all seems to be working fine now (even through a reboot).

It would be nice if there was an (Fences Editor) perhaps that would allow you to align your grids/Fences (align tops, align bottoms, make the same width, make the same height, snap to grid) similar to that of the interface you would use to program Microsoft C, C++, Visual Basic, etc.  This would really come in handy and would make things go a lot faster than having to tweak pixel by pixel using the Magnifier app to align everything by eye on some instances.  I did notice that the Fences does indeed snap to the grid, this is wonderful :)

For now, I'm requesting that this case be closed.

Thank you so much for your assistance, I've been waiting a very long time for these updates.  Now I'm up to date with your new engine.

Have a good day,

:)
