Sorting of links in the fence

Hello everyone,

I've been back on the board for a long time. Since Fences 2 to be exact. Now I have Fences 6 installed again on my main computer. I have to admit that I am no longer experienced in using this software.

I now have a problem with the sorting of links within the fence. Even though I have selected "none" for order/sorting, the links are automatically ordered row by row. However, I want and need to be able to freely move the links to any position within the fence. Surely one of you can help me, thanks and regards

Hello,
Sorry to hear you are having issues. But, I checked and I still can rearrange my icons to any position I wished when I select Sort to None. May I know more information on your system.

  1. Windows 10 or 11? Also need its full version and OS Build number.
  2. Fences 6 full version number.
  3. Post a video showing us your issue will help us understand your issue better.

Thank you,

Hello basj,

thank you for your reply, here is the requested data:

Windows 10 Pro 22H2, Build 19045.5737

Fences 6 (Beta 2) 5.9.9.3

And in the pictures here you can see what I mean. I have tried to drag an icon to the bottom right. But then it automatically moves to the second line at the bottom.

That is not how Fences work. Fences will always arrange its icons starting from the top left and only move to the next row when the top row is full. So for you to put an icon on the bottom right is not possible in your case.

so that means i can't position the icons freely/anywhere in a fence, right?? that's not nice, that would be a major improvement suggestion, please confirm again, thanks!!!

Yes, you cannot place your icons freely while within a Fence. There were feature request for this put in by others. But, nothing on this one yet.
