Many nice looking screensavers on those sites you have linked, but many also have lots of unwelcome hidden extras. I'd be warry of downloading anything from them. If you do, I'd install "winpatrol" first and you will be made aware of them as they are added to your startup menu. Then have fun trying to get rid them all.

Ah yes, webgizmos, very right you are...I'd neglected to point that out when I'd posted the links in the original thread. I have both AdAware and SpyBot installed, and I always run them after installing any so-called "freeware" like the screensavers listed at many of these sites. And I end up removing a ton of spyware and adware most of the time. So yes, definitely have some kind of spyware removal program on your computer before you try downloading anything.

Yeah JinnFizz...I saw your links and checked some out...but forgot about the little hidden extras... ...what a pain in the butt those things are.

I have found no repositories for good free screensavers for windows that use little cpu/videa card. now for linux...

anyway a nice one I did find was flurry for windows. Flurry is a very nice mac screensaver: http://www.maddogsw.com/flurry/
