monitor suggestioons??

Hi everyone It's been a while since I've been able to do any skinning becuase my monitor blew up! I've been saving for a while and now I'm ready to buy. I'm looking for a 21" flat screen but I can't stand the grille lines. anyone know of a model that doesn't have grille lines? Or should I just save some more and get an LCD? Thanks for the input!

Chris, you might check out the thread at: https://www.wincustomize.com/msgboard.asp?id=236729&BID=WC&page=1#240116

While I love my LCD display, you will find that most of the skinners prefer the Flat Screen CRT monitors.

I am not sure what you are referring to about "grille lines" though.

Grille lines are on every trinitron or daimondtron monitor, they are really small and hard to see but they drive me crazy. they run horizontally across the screen, 21" have two, smaller than that only one, I think. A friend let me borrow his for a day and I couldn't take it. right now I'm looking at a viewsonic g220fb, but I can't find out if it has the lines or not. thanks for the link.

I don't know about most skinners prefer "Flat screens" part... I will never use another CRT monitor again. I use dual 19" Ultrasharp LCDs. Happy as a clam!

Now that's nice! I'm looking at CRT's pretty much because of price I'd rather have a 21" flat CRT than a 19" LCD for more money, especially if I only get one! It's just really hard to find out which ones are going to have grille lines. I think the viewsonic g220fb doesn'thave them, but I'm not sure.

I can't really tell what your monitor looks like in that small image Chad, but I've yet to see an LCD that comes close to a CRT. My 6 year old Dell CRT looks better than my wifes new LCD.

Lucky for me, I won't have to use this old relic much longer, and I have my eye on a Princeton 19" .25 dpi Pure Flat CRT. I can hardly wait.

Chad,

I agree with you, I like my LDC too, but when I was saying most skinners, I guess I was stating that almost all of the skinners that replied to the thread that I included in the link of my previous post said that they preferred Flat Screen CRT's. It was close to being unanimous.

By the way, I live in NE Cedar Rapids, what part of town do you live in?

As for monitors.....unless your doing office/spreadsheet work....I'd go for a CRT every time....better for graphics and better for gaming....and a hell of a lot cheaper if you can afford the desktop real estate a larger monitor takes up
