WHell?? Whit wich program.

PS: I'm learning very fast and will thank you if you lost a little time with me.

There are tutorials at stardock.com for all the programs. You will also need some editing software like photoshop or paintshop pro. I use paintshop pro. Good price. If you don't have editing software you are not gonna get too far.

yeah i see it and have editing software, but i don't know with wich program to start again :}}}}}

I read all the info of all programs inzluding i Object Desktop and i think to start with Skin Studio. Am I right? If not with wich?

You can make DX themes by pulling together bits (DX Objects) that suit your needs without any real editing knowledge or software. Just import objects that do what you wish. See the library here.

You can create object to do what you want by following the directions in the guides. It's actually pretty intuitive I think, unless you start playing with scripts.

If you want to actually create something, you need artistic ability, inspiration, the editing tools including skinstudio and lots of time. If that's your path, start small and see where the muse takes you.

To make DesktopX themes, all you need it DesktopX....go to DesktopX settings and click NEW on either theme or object...

SkinStudio is for WindowBlinds, Windows Media Player, and Bootskin. (and maybe some others)

I have only used skinstudio for windowblind skins. It also works to open icons amd such.

Icon developer is for making icons.

I dont use object dock but I believe it to be similiar to Desktop x.

Are you trying to use skinstudio to make a desktopx theme?

If you play around with skinstudio you will learn. Its frustrating but eventually you will get it. Taking apart and disect someone elses skin is the best way to learn skinstudio.

I dont know what you mean by which program to start. Are you having problems just starting programs or are you trying to find out which program is the best to start with in creating your own stuff?

If i'm right i must start with puthing background image in Appearance menu in DesktopX and then put object in that background with menu -DesktopX-Desktop/Objects/New or load

Am i right :}}}}}

Yes, I believe it looks like you are on your way! I knew nothing about dsektop x when I got it but if even I can half assed figure it out you will be very succesful. You can also load a theme done by someone else, right click on any object to see what properties the author gave that object. I don't know a thing about scripting but they say it's easy. I hope I am helping and not confusing you.

You realy help me a lot and thank you for that. I have just one question for now .. How to make my pictures jpg or animated gif - Objects , because i see that can upload only Object file in DEsktopX and no jpg or other image formats

All the various things that you can create to use with any of the Stardock customizing programs would basically need some sort of graphics program like Photoshop or PaintShop Pro to build your graphics. The different help files, guides and tutorials that can be found will tell you some basics as to type of graphics files and other necessities so that you know what type of graphics you can import and use to create your own skins. Also entering the name of the program such as 'Bootskin' in the search function above will get you threads people have posted here with their different problems getting something to work.

My list for ease of creation...from easiest to hardest....Others will have different opinions on which are harder to make.

1. Boot Screens using Bootskin
2. Logon Screens using LogonStudio
3. Cursors using CursorXP
4. Windowblinds using SkinStudio
5. Icons using IconDeveloper and IconPackager
6. DX Objects and Themes using DesktopX

Best thing to do is to take apart someone else's skin to see what makes it tick. Also using other people's skins will help you get familiar with the different programs. I've been actively using WindowBlinds since last December and am now just building my first useable WB skin (But then again I'm just an old burnt-out backwoods redneck )

Have fun and use the Skinning Discussion board to ask specific questions about different skinning obstacles and hurdles

Try a .png file or .bmp its been awhile but one will definately work. You have to put the individual frames together to get the animation strip.

Yeah i have PhotoShop but i want to know how to make my images i *.dxpack or *.exe because this is the only formats wich DesktopX load
Reply #19 Top
If you already have a theme loaded and running you can import objects. You cant run an object all on its own unless you have a theme running. Desktop X pro version allows for .exe objects but I haven't ventured into that yet. I have been stuck on skinstudio for a few months now.

i will try now to make desktop like "World Panorama" from So-Close the movie if you know for wich movie i'm talkiing about
Reply #23 Top
If you have DesktopX running...you can right-click on the icon in your system tray and create a "New Theme". This will be an 'empty' theme. Right-click on it again and go to Import Objects and continue to do this until you have all the different objects running that you want. The right-click one more time and "Save Theme" You now have a new theme. That's the only way I know how to do it. Then again I ain't no DX expert. Frogboy and _Martin_ would be the first two to come to mind and there are plenty of other authors with DX expertise and I apologize for not mentioning them here
