Boot Screen Resolution

After installing BootSkin, the boot screens are not being displayed correctly. it's as if the image is too big for the resolution (i.e. 1024X728 walpaper on a 800X600 resolution) I was just curious if anyone else had this problem or if it is possible to change the resolution of the boot screen.

Right now BootSkins can only be 640x480, and 16 colors. (due to video drivers not being loaded until after your system boots) I don't know why they would appear to be too big, if anything they should appear too small for your res, and strecthed to fit.

I thought BookSkin might have been the problem so i uninstalled and tried a reboot. didn't seem to help much.

Although, now that i think about it, i installed a new video card about the same time, so maybe thats where the issue is comming from.

I had a little one time oddity... somehow the boot screen was at a signifigantly higher resolution once.

The boot screen normally takes up the whole screen, but that once it was only about 1/2 the size, centered, and had a wide black margin on each side of the image.

One thing I've noticed is that after I calibrated my monitor (geometry) just right for 1024x768, my boot screens (even XP default) exhibit some offset in both height and width.

But that offset's nothing like what Aqua just described. The point is, I thought something was wrong.

Then I realized that it was simply my monitor not being spot on for 640x480. Not much to be done about it as then my 1024x768 (normal operating mode) would probably have some offset if I optimized the 640x480 geometry.

I'm not claiming this is the answer for D Squiggy. Just putting out the slight problem I have for anybody's consideration.
