New to Desktop X, would like to learn some things

Hello, I am new to this whole thing, and would like to design some things into my desktop. I use 1600x1200 res. and would like to set a portion of that to the window when I open things, and when I "Maximize" like explorer, it would only go to the edges of this box I make in the corner of my desktop, that way I can still see everything else around this Window. I am not sure how else to explain it.

Go into DX configuration, and hit the Work Area button. Then you should be able to specify how big windows maximize to.

Ohhh, hold on. I'm not sure if I totally understand what you're saying. You want the window to fill the box, then?

well, sort of, ok, lets use Outlook as our example. I want to set a section of my desktop to cater to the new windows that i open, anything. So, if I click on outlook, i want it to open, in this area that i have sectioned off.

lol, i got it, lol, you were right, all i did was put the outlook(example) to the size i wanted, then took a screenshot, then went into photoshop and did some math, and put the work space to those dimensions from the outer edges of the desktop, it works great, i still see everything on my desktop that is custom
