Do you need to keep both Deskscapes 11 and Deskscapes 2026 on your system?

For anyone that has both Deskscapes 11 and Deskscapes 2026, have you been successful uninstalling Deskscapes 11 or do you need to keep both versions?

I recently got Deskscapes 2026, but if I try to uninstall Deskscapes 11, my Win 11 system asks me if I want to uninstall Deskscapes 2026 instead, which makes me conclude that both versions are somehow intertwined together if you happen to own both.

Appreciate any insight into this and if there was a way to remove Deskscapes 11 but keep Deskscapes 2026 (and keep any screen backgrounds that were created in Deskscapes 11).

Hello, Sorry to hear you’re having trouble. You don’t need both versions installed at the same time—DeskScapes 2026 should replace DeskScapes 11 automatically. It looks like something may have gone wrong during installation.

I recommend uninstalling DeskScapes 2026, then rebooting your PC. After that, check if DeskScapes 11 is still present. If it is, you may want to use an uninstaller tool (like Revo Uninstaller) to remove any leftover files.

Thank you for the recommendation.  I have a question.  When Deskscapes 11 came out, there was another product 'Dreams' that also came out which was used in conjunction with Deskscapes 11.  Do I uninstall 'Dreams' also or should I keep it on my system (assuming it can be used with Deskscapes 2026)?

I am not sure about "Dreams". Do you mean Dreams that you get from Wincustomize.com and it is animated wallpapers? If so, from what I understand, those still work under Deskscape 2026. But, if you was referring to entirely different product. Please elaborate.

Hello, I think it is referring to 'Deskscapes Dreammaker'.  This was an older product and there are old forum posts about it from other people that had it.  Since I had this, if I uninstall Deskscapes, it asks if I want to uninstall 'Dreams' too as an option, rather than using the full name.

Hello, I’m not sure about uninstalling “Dreams,” as that seems to refer only to the Dreams component, not DreamMaker. DreamMaker itself should continue to work.

That said, DeskScapes 2026 includes the new Hybrid Dream Editor along with an AI‑powered background creator, both designed to work more effectively with DeskScapes 2026 and the latest versions of Windows.
