Need more Help with making object sections CLEAR

Hi,
well yet again I need some more help. I have really only been messing with this for this evening, and have come up with an ok desktop for myself. But, there are sections that I would like to make clear. please look at my desktop screen shot below, and look at the note i put there.

If you save the image as a .png file then the transparent part of the image will remain transparent when you create the object. I use paintshop pro but I am pretty sure that photoshop saves files as .png.

I didn't know that Object Bar took PNG files.... or does it not take tga files?

they both take .pngs

i think latin meant 'copy' the background layer.. or, in photoshop, 'Duplicate' it. trash the original, and you'll be left with a transparent ready background copy. put a new transparent layer under neath it and you can play with transparent interactions between the two.
