Removal of positions on a per screen-resolution basis feature?

Fences used to have a great feature that allowed different Fence layouts to be saved and automatically restored based on screen resolution or monitor configuration. For example, when docking to an external monitor, it would restore one layout, and when working on a laptop display, it would restore another.

I noticed that this functionality appears to have been removed from the current version, although it is still documented in the Help Center:

https://support.stardock.com/space/SHC/1459060777/Fences+UI:+Layout+&+Snapping#Layout-snapshots

Could you clarify whether this is a temporary change, a feature that has been intentionally removed, or perhaps functionality that is planned to return in a future release?

The ability to maintain separate layouts for different monitor configurations was one of the features I found most useful in Fences.

Thanks!

Hi scribbins,

Ya know this isn’t something we considered, but you raise a good point! This feature is now “always on”, having now gotten years of battle testing and refinement. But the removal of the config leaves out important information that this is how it behaves.

Correct starting with Fences 5.5, it intelligently remembers layouts per config basis. I’ve passed word to the development team so that they can figure out a way to get that information back in there.

Thank you for the heads up!
