taskbar problem with 2026-06 Preview Update (KB5095093) (26200.8737)

Taskbar tray won't open with latest windows update preview

FYI, in case it it some incompatibility you need to look at (rather than something broken in the windows preview itself).

Using the Start11 taskbar, the little caret doesn't do anything, and so there's no way to access the hidden items in the traybar drawer thing. It works fine if I turn off Start11 handling the taskbar.

Windows 64 ARM in case that matters.

I am also experiencing the same issue after installing KB5095093.

Other issues are: thumbnails not displaying on taskbar on mouse hover, search button not working, notification bar not working, widgets not working. As noted in original post, all this issue go away if Start11 taskbar enhancements are turned off.

Edit: I have now uninstalled KB5095093 and Start11 is functioning correctly again.

Can you double check what build of Start11 is installed?

Your issue seems different to others as it seems to be impacting everything on the taskbar rather than just the end area.

Also have the same issue after installing KB5095093 disabling Start 11 from messing with the task bar also worked for me.

To confirm running 2.72 of Start 11 latest version so over to Stardock for a fix. Been nice if found this before wasting an hour trying to fix windows.

Which cpu do you have?  Is it also ARM?

I ask as we have updated machines and no issues are showing which is frustrating as it suggests an additional factor is involved here.

What taskbar setup do you have normally with Start11?  Is it on bottom, top, left, right, is it single line or multiple lines, is it centred or left aligned?  Also do you have widgets enabled on the taskbar, taskview, search?

A screenshot of your taskbar may be helpful in giving us a clue as to what the difference is.

Yeah, same issue here with the KB5095093 on Start11 V2.72. For now I have disabled Start11 features until this is fixed.

AMD Ryzen 5 - 16GB Ram, RT3060 12GB Video card, Windows 11 25H2 (Current build) windows kb5095093 installed 23/6/26

I have been using Start 11 for over 2 years, and this is the first problem I have encountered. The Start11 menu operates on the Taskbar located at the bottom of both screens I use, with the ICONS in the middle of the Bar. (See screenshot below of the working version) i.e., Start11 disabled. The areas highlighted in the red squares are the parts that don't work if I enable Start11.

And also, I just checked my other computer which is an i9, and it has the same problem, so it doesn't seem to be ARM-related.

similarly, when I diable the Start11 taskbar features, it works fine.

How many monitors do those having issues have and what layout do they have?

Also what scaling factor is in use.

We have updated multiple machines and none of them are showing the issue.

I also assume nobody is using anything which might alter explorer behaviour in any way?

I have two screens running at 1080DPI scaling and have had Start11 running on that configuration with no issues until the KB update was applied. One of the many comments in the KB update It talks about is the following.

  • [Taskbar] This update improves the reliability of opening the Start menu when selecting the left edge of the taskbar when the icons in the taskbar are left-aligned.

Hi Guys, good job. I can confirm the search tab and right hand side icons on the task bar are now working as designed ;)
