Feature Request: Chameleon - Keep Non-Fenced Icons Color

First off, I love the Chameleon feature in Fences. It helps fences blend naturally into the desktop wallpaper and reduces visual clutter. However, I'd like to request more granular control over what Chameleon affects.

Requested Enhancement

Add an option to apply Chameleon only to fences, while allowing non-fenced desktop icons to remain at full color.

Current Behavior

• Chameleon fades/desaturates both:
  • Fences
  • Standard desktop icons
• When hovering, color is restored to fences.

Desired Behavior

Provide a toggle such as:

Chameleon Options

• ✅ Apply Chameleon to Fences
• ☐ Apply Chameleon to Desktop Icons

This would allow users to:

• Keep fences visually subdued and integrated with the wallpaper.
• Maintain full-color desktop icons for faster identification and recognition.
• Mix organizational and accessibility preferences more effectively.

Additional Idea

It might also be interesting to optionally restore color to desktop icons on hover, similar to how fences currently behave. While I personally may not use that feature, I can see it being useful for users who want a very minimal desktop appearance until they interact with specific icons.

Example:

• Desktop icons: faded by Chameleon
• Hover over an icon: full color restored
• Move away: icon returns to faded state

Why This Matters

I'm a very visual person and often identify applications, files, and shortcuts by their icon colors rather than by reading text labels. Words take more effort for me to process than visual cues.

Fences has made my desktop significantly easier to navigate and organize. Being able to keep non-fenced icons in full color while allowing fences to remain Chameleoned would provide the best of both worlds: a clean, polished desktop while preserving rapid visual recognition of important icons.
