Why? Why are so many people against the idea of others posting links to their own skinning sites in forums or message boards?

Consider this… If you believed you were a part of a community and you thought that you had something to contribute (for free)… not software or freeware... and you thought you were doing your part to help this community grow, how would you feel if your attempts at becoming a valuable piece of this puzzle were shot down by your own people? Why can’t other skinning sites and forums play “Big Brother” to others? Why try to stomp out little brothers who would just like to grow with the idea of skinning?

SPAM… how could someone trying to list their part of the community, in the community forums be considered spamming?

Advertising… How could a site that isn’t selling anything or promoting anything be considered as advertising something?

Self Promotion… How could someone that has nothing more than a forum for people of the community to share thoughts be considered self-promotion… when the only real thing that is being promoted is the skinning community itself?

This community will NOT continue to grow instead it will be controlled by only a few major companies (just like everything else) until something changes…

Go ahead and start bashing me for this post… I am prepared.

Well sure, making it so he cant speak solves the problem, but does it really promote his maturity? Seriously! If he doesnt get a chance to learn netiquette now, when will he? And at least he isnt swearing or dissing other people. I've seen far worse than him. Jeez, you want obnoxious posts, just look at Jesh's from The Skins Factory. If I was an admin, that would be one guy who got shut up. But I think that latin shouldnt just be silenced. If only there was a way to limit his posts to like, ten per day.

Cerebro, I have to agree with what Jafo's judgement/actions....

Latin basically wouldnt shut up...even though he was told numerous times to do so...Seems theres only one course of action to take when 'kids' get out of hand like that... Take away their posting privileges.

Being able to post on the board is not a 'right', but a privilege that can be taken away if someone abuses it sufficently, which latin has done.

Besides, its not permanent...

I do alot of reading the message boards without posting. I don't understand exactly what's going on but it seems to me that you require people to buy the software to use it...first you want their opinion on it...then you don't...and if they're not up to your abilities and admit it you smear em all over and make a laughing stock out of em. Lurk?? Oh yeah...much better to lurk and learn than attempt to say something and get shoved in the dirt for not being respected for being new. I don't see whereas latin has done a dang thing wrong...I've seem some pretty sleazy posts in some of the threads here.....oh but of course...it's ok for insiders...????? back to lurking.....

Mrs_footsie_...needless to say, after the cleaners have been in to sweep the streets the gutters are nice and clean......but one can get really tired of having to sweep twice a day when it should be only needed once a week.

When gentle requests fail and are ignored time and time again an alternative is required.

Ill regret this.

I think latin has been more than welcomed here. His main motive is only to get things posted. That is it. No regard for quality in his work or the standards of wincustomize itself. If his work was not accepted he would spam the board looking for attention. If his work was accepted he would spam the board for more attenton. He does show signs that he can be quite intelligent. That is what has gotten him into trouble. He posts links in his comments that lead to directly downloading his skins. He blames rude comments on his little brother. He seams to have an excuse for everything.

He has asked for assistance in skinning and the community tried to help. He didn't listen. Essencay started a whole private turorial for him and I dont even think he looked. .....gota stop short dinners ready, and wasting any more time on a unsupervised child ......

He's 12, well just 13, still a kid. Jafo made the right decision. Latin was given plenty of opportunities to grow up a little bit and his poll over at wstaylor is just further proof of his disrespect for Jafo.
