you have to be a member of the club, you know. if you were a member, you'd have the password.

you.. ARE a member, right?

just kidding.. it sounds like your ZIP program wants to be registered. do you have a trial software or something? go to download.com and get Winzip.. it will also prompt you for registration but you can ignore it and use it shareware style.

There shouldn''t be a password required to open any download on this site. This is really strange.

Zuke, can you give us more details on the password prompt you get? Is it a popup style dialog? What is the exact text of the entire dialog?
i'm only a citizen is that ok?
A citizen can download anything that anyone else can.
If you are using the trial version of the software, you can continue to download and use the skins until you reach the limit.
At that time, you have to either be promoted by your level of contribution to the community, or you have to purchase either a Stardock product or subscribe to WinCustomize.

No matter what the situation, there are no passwords for any downloads or for any Stardock Apps.

Actually, what I meant was that I think for logon and boot files they have to be loaded to the Admin account. I've never heard of the problem before, but it's possible it won't install on a user's account...

Sounds like the 'zip' proggy cannot determine what the suffix 'bootskin' is...as it is actually a renamed 'zip' suffix....

soz 4 takin so long guys, been away on work, ummm geez didnt think it i'd get this many posts, thanks all, right i run xp pro Windows NT Workstation Version 5.1 build 2600 1.4 gig 256 ddr geforce2 64m,( i know i gotta upgrade ). Now for wot happens, I use the internal xp zip, when i open the d/loaded bootskin (zip form) i double click it, up comes the extraction wizard & its in a folder set up eg: program files/stardock/wincustomize/bootskin/skins/name of file/windows/ then the files , which are :- 3 bmp's & a config file, even if i try to copy & past the files to another folder they wont go. The password prompt i get if i try to extract is a dialog box with "Password needed" at top of box, & the message :- File " is password protected. Please enter the password in the box below.

hope that helps as ive had no other trouble with the app, i use to use BootXP (sorry 4 mentioning the enemy
) but it gave me all sorts of hell so im eager to use bootskin, just bored with the default Skins, Thanks again 4 the help.
