I'm new, need HELP!

I just discovered this website. I downloaded WindowBlinds 4 4.3(build 142)-Shareware XP. I also downloaded 2 skins titled flora and fathom, which are beautiful. I must emphasize that I am brand new to skinning but I am moderately computer literate. When I applied the skin and later needed to restart my pc, Windows would not load at all. I had to do a system restore to an earlier date to get it to load. Everything worked just fine until I restarted my pc. I love this option to change the look and am interested in the purchase of the 2 year subscription option if I can get this one issue resolved and learn how to use all of it's features. If anyone could/would help, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, I appologize for the lengthy message.

Well, I am not sure what you mean. It showed the dos screen telling me that windows did not load and it gave me the option to start in safe mode. By the way, I am running Windows XP. Thanks so much for any help.

OK...that is the info I was looking for...WindowBlinds will not stop a boot, it just simply won't load when Windows boots up. You usually get that screen when there is an improper 'Shutdown or Restart'. My guess would be that if you had clicked on 'Start Windows Normally', it would have. If you re-install WB, I believe it will work fine. If it doesn't, don't do a System Restore, just boot into Safe Mode and un-install WB from there. If, after you un-install WB, it boots normally, then we need to look further at what's causing it.

In any event, give it another go and let us know if you still have a problem.

Pick one out of the 'Top Downloads' (top right) and try it.

Some skins have errors that in some cases only show on some systems and you happened to hit some. The Top downloaded are usually the best bet for not having errors or they wouldn't be top downloads. If you click on the 'Top Downloads' tab it will take you to a bunch of them....go shopping for something you like.

Della - I should have added that you don't have to stick to the Top Downloads, as a matter of fact, I would encourage you to try anything you see that you like. Just remember, if it happens again that it's not you, WB or your computer...it's the skin. The chances are very good you'll never see this again no matter what you try.

The shareware version of windowblinds doesn't allow everything to be skinned either. This may be causing your troubles on a restart. I have gone to extra-ordinary lengths to remove all errors in my skins. Try some of mine and if you have any problems let me know. Also, some of the older skins may not work well with the newer version of windowblinds. But, I have no problems with any of the skins in the full version of windowblinds. Consider getting the full version or maybe Object Desktop. It is a great set of programs. And, welcome aboard.

I have uninstalled everything and reinstalled from the links that came in the confirmation email I received. However, all I am able to download for the WindowBlinds is the "public" 4 version, not the "full/enhanced" version. I am not sure what to do now. Thanks again, in advance.
