I cant update. Wrong cd-key (serial)

Im a swedish customer and bought this game in a swedish computergames retailstore.
I come home and begin the installation and enter the right cd-key that comes along with the game. Without u even couldnt install this game i guessed.
Well now to my problem. When i want to update the game trough this website i right dowen my emailadress and enter the serial number i used when i installed the game but it says over and over that i havent used the correct serial, i have doublechecked many times and no i dont write the wrong serial.
Am i wrong or can i only upgrade this game if i have bought it trough this webshop that they link to?
Any help appreciated.. :)

You can get Stardock to send you your registration details. Go to www.stardock.com/support.asp and enter your email address. This will then send any registration details associated with that email address in an email to that address. This should therefore send you your registration number. Alternatively it will indicate that NO registration number is associated with that email address hinting that maybe a mistake is made. In which case send an email to Stardock explaining the situation and giving your details.

Did you try entering all in caps, and switching zeros for Os and things like that?

Yeah--the game has a faulty serial# validator. I pulled a 1/I screwup and the game took it. Stardock didn't, though.

I have the same problem. When I installed the game, I didn't use the caps letter to enter the SN and it didn't work. But I tried the caps and the game was successfully installed.

I'm trying to download the patch but it always saying that I have an invalid serial number. I need to download this patch because the game randomly close when playing the game. I think the patch will solve this problem.

Why can't we simply download the patch like any other game, without SN? It sould have been so simple...

Likewise. My SN worked to install the game but I can't seem to use it to register/get updates. Which is really sucky. Why do you have to be registered to get a PATCH?

About the serial number for patches...

I've heard that Stardock will occasionally release "special" patches for serial numbers in heavy use (i.e. pirated ones). It seems to be another level of control for them, as even an installed copy of the game can't be upgraded if the serial number is pirated, leading to frustration for the pirates, and hopefully convincing them to actually buy the game.

I was able to patch just fine downloading the patch elsewhere. So I doubt mine is pirated. But I still can't register with it, which sucks, because I don't want to have to go to this trouble every time a patch becomes available.

To Vinco. Pirates will always find a way to crack securities. You can always find patches by "alternative" ways. The only problem for me is that I actually purchased the game in the store, not over e-bay. I can't return it and say : "Hey my S/N dosen't work for updates but it works for game installation".
