new to desktopX and everything here.. help me!!

ok well i was never into customizing my windows but then i came across this site and saw all the kewl themes. i decide to download desktopx(v2.1) to test some of them out but after downloading atleast 8 of them... none of them worked properly... some would load up the wallpaper but not the tool bars on the side or rainmeter.. or some would be switched and load up the rainmeter(only 1 loaded up the rainmeter)/toolbar but not the wallpaper(even when i set the correct resolution). can someone help me out with this so i can get full advantage of these themes.. cuz they look awesome but I cant use them. Could the fact that I am running XP Office have anything to do with it? ... I'm new so maybe there is stuff to configure that i dont know about... or should I just download window blinds instead of using desktopX??? HELP ME... i have been trying to get atleast 1 theme to work 100% for atleast 3 hours last night... getting frustrated

What version of DX are you running? the trial version or the registered version? I ask because I had problems using DX themes when I was using the trial version.

yea im using the trial version.. does this mean basically most(if not all) of the themes will load "half ass" and not 100% unless i buy the other version? .... if that IS the case... should i just try Windowblinds?

Desktop X, Rainmeter and systemmetrix are all seperate programs. People include those files with their DX themes but you have to install them yourself. You can easily find the links to those programs here at WC.

Some themes have hidden sidebars and such. You need to read the author''s instructions in order to find out how the skin works. Themes are also resolution dependent. A 1280 x 1024 theme will most likely display oddly on a 1280 x 768 res.

If you do decide to make a purchase, get Object Desktop. It is the way to go. You will get all the stardock software and updates for a year. Wisest purchase you will ever make.

I'm not sure but I do know the windowblinds trial version does not skin everything so I can only assume DX is the same way. I could be wrong.

I also recommend the complete Object Desktop package. Worth every cent and cheaper than buying each program seperatly.

I would recommend starting with Windowblinds...I think it is much easier to use than DesktopX.
