Don't know if anyone has seen this yet, but tgtsoft released ver 2.11 on Friday that claims it's icontraslate program can now read IP encrypted themes.

Randy...your knuckles will be skinned in frustration using StyleXP with its feeble limitations....so that's something it'll 'skin more'....

, For example, when you are using more programs then your taskbar can handle there will come a scrollbar on your taskbar.
Also if you fix the content margins of the task bar so you will have an extra large taskbar (standard) styleXP is still able to show your running programs on it, on top of each other. (hope I make sence)

There are some small details like a vertical progres bar and all kind of sliders that are skinned. The 'larger' buttons and squares are skinned and there are some more examples like that.

However, stylexp also has some limits, for example it dasn't skin the shut down dialog. (witch I don't really mind as I prefer not to shut down that much )

another thing, for the tabs you can use more then 1 image, for example, top left tab, top right tab, top tab, left tab, etc etc. There are more, just download style builder and see for yourself.

btw brad:

524 KB Mem usage isn't that high or I am I wrong?

Add all those svchost.exe's onto it (since they are also part of the visual engine. You can turn them off when you are using windowblinds) and you get alot larger number than that.

Cerebro, svchost is also running if you dont run windowblinds or styleXP, they are standard, don't make a diffrence.
Nope, I dont have them. You can turn them off if you're not using the XP skinning engine.

Quick math: 16524 kb's unnecessarily taken up by StyleXP etc.

WindowBlinds currenly on my system: 440 kb, but it IS a pretty minimalistic skin.

Ah, so thats why I get this message 'your pc will be shut down in 16 seconds' this error is because you shutdown a system program

"My Computer" "Control Panel" "Administrative Tools" "Services" scroll down to "Themes" and Disable.

But that will disable StyleXP as well.
Yeah great, as I said, it is a SYSTEM proces. Its the file that is also making sure luna is working.

and still, 16500 KB isn't near the 45000 and I am running quite a heavy skin.

but still its how you feel about it yourself, I am quite happy with how style xp is running for me now and I just need to run it as I am working on some style XP skins so not that much choice. However, I do hear from more and more skinners (yes, skinners from wc) that they start using style XP more often too...

(yes, skinners from wc) that they start using style XP more often too

That'll be the small 's' 'skinners'.  Anyone with a history with WB will perhaps 'toy' with the little proggies when they're bored in their gourd....but it'll never be a serious infatuation....

That they're starting to use StyleXP, or StyleXP skins? Thats important, since I use skins, imported through Skinstudio, but not the actual program.

All skinnable in SKS Pro

Also possible in SKS Pro

The only thing you've mentioned that isn't possible is creating a taskbar that scrolls.

Cerebro, more users starting to use StyleXP

What is the diffrence from using an icon pack and a msstyle?
The creators of them might feel that they have created them just for style XP and not for windowblinds so the IP issue on that is kind of double standard.

Jafo, I have a history with windowblinds but also use style XP more often

Imagine this, trying to defend style XP in a wb community. You have to be very convinced about your opinion then. I have been using windowblinds for more then a year and have used style XP for a couple of months now, will soon switch to hoverdesk or something like that. Just like testing things out.

Well then they shouldn't use a format that (for lack of a better word) was stolen.

As towards more users using StyleXP, maybe it just seems that way to you because you never really participated in it's community before now.

for me, wbload has 782k and all those svchost add up too 9,000k.

Me, I just don't like the fact that SXP hacks into something. Never used it before, but I looked at screen shots and WB seems more flexible to me.

I hope you dont mean WC with 'its community', check my userID, I have been arround here for quite some time now and have been more active then you, as far as I can remember. I have spend hours on the wincustomize msgboard and created LOTS of skins. I even create professional interfaces for companies like coca cola and smart so you really shouldn't be saying things you don't know anything about. (And yes, some of those interfaces were windowblinds based and some styleXP based.)

I have spend hours on creating WB skins and the same counts for StyleXP Skins. Keep in mind that a lot of companies that want a custom GUI choose for StyleXP as you can also run those with a .dll hack.

JTB, StyleXP dasn't hack into something, or atleast, not in 'that' way.
StyleXP loads the hack into your memory, when you shut it down, all is back to normal.

First off, I was actually refering to the StyleXP community, which is clear by its name being in the same sentence. Secondly, your memory clearly isn't so great, and clearly you didn't have the intelligence to check my library before you posted. By lots for skins you mean... two? Mkay... Cursor sets and 3D generated wallpapers hardly count as skins skipper. And my congratulations on your professional design work, not exactly sure what that has to do with anything, but if you'd like I can spout out random highlights on my resume too. So, take your own advice, and don't talk about things that you don't know about.

In this case the creators of the skins grant the permission to port their images to a WB format, so the original author maintains a level of control over his work. The IP encryption was cracked without permission from SD, therefore it violates quite a few laws.

The fact that you (as well as thousand more users) like SXP over WB is not an issue of controversy, it is merely an issue of preference, and each one of us is free to choose what we want. Unlike TGT Soft which does not have the freedom to crack encryptions from any program that doesn’t belong to them.

But AP, you can port styleXP for personal use too

MP,

I checked your library yes.

Secondly, your memory clearly isn't so great, and clearly you didn't have the intelligence

I don't know why you are now starting with personal attacks but remember, becomming angry is a sign of being wrong and ofcourse, very unpolite.

As I said, I worked on lots of skins, not every skin I have is here in the library. I even deleted some skins because I felt the overal quality wasn't good enough (anymore).

I could make a personal attack back here but I wont, probably just a matter of taste.

Random Highlights? Yeah, with a client list of 50+ Clients in one year its hard to choose.

But hey, dont take my comments seriouse because I dont know **** about things.

btw, I dont count a wallpaper as a skin, a cursor theme is a 'skin'...

want to know more of my work, just check my profile, or better jet, drop a visit on my site in 2 weeks.

Really funny how people can get so upset if you share an opinion that is other then theirs.
Did you hear me say that WB was crap? NO.
and more users switching to StyleXP, why do I have to know the StyleXP community to see that more skinners (here from WC) are using styleXP?

anyway, believe what you want to believe, you are right not? just tell yourself that you are right and maybe one day, you will even believe it!!

but now for seriouse, see you all arround, I will be off on a holiday. (so dont even bother to post a reply with more personal attacks )
Nah, I'll reply

No personal attacks, just matters of observation. As towards getting angry? Nah, I don't get angry over internet things. I just have a bad attitude, ask around people will tell you. Call me crazy, but you did make personal attacks, you just worded them with fluff. And a cursor theme, I have difficulty seeing them as a skin. As toward your random highlights, well yeah if you picked 2 out of 50, they would be random now wouldn't they? After all, how else could you choose from O' so much experience. I did indeed check your profile, hints the '3d generated' wallpaper comment.

As towards you perfering StyleXP, I don't think anyone made an issue of that. If you've been reading the thread at all you'd see people are upset not because of verying opinions but because of questionable software practice. So no need to put yourself on the proverbial high-horse, no one is assaulting your beliefs or opinion. Hell, I don't think anyones really attacked the quality of StyleXP.

As towards users switching to StyleXP, who cares there will always be converts, but correct me if I'm wrong WinCustomize still continues to grow despite these converts.

Anyhow, your have fun on your holiday.

#51 by Admin Jafo - 7/21/2004 8:34:50 AM All a matter of who finds the desire to chase their rights.Personally, someone screwing with me and mine will be fed their gonads on a plate. This isn't personal opinion....it is personal resolution.

As a peaceful, soft spoken member of the community, I am appalled by this chest pounding bravado.

This threatening entry is just one of the many in the growing library of terrorist threats that have become the hallmark of this site.

I was also shocked to find crude sex toys that procreate on my desktop on demand. This is supposed to be a family site. I am alarmed and deeply troubled, this X rated content is unacceptable, and frankly, deplorable. May god have mercy on your soul’s, Thank You.
