Somewhat Frustrating

Hi Folks......
Right From the bigining I want to Clear that I need some Positive Critisism and Comments...Not Offensing Any One Niether Wish to Be...But for A reason and guideline.

I had submitted 03 Wallpapers to WC (Sceneries & Photography). Before posting I read through the instructions and found my walls just right. When I posted them, they were rejected for some reasons (Obviesely Admins Do KNOW what is right for Site. They are really Hardworking Ones and VERY VERY Senior to Me).

To know the reason, I emailed the Admins to know the reason and to have some tips for improvement But NEVER answered.

The real point of tease is that A good fallow picks his photoshop tool, draws some colorful lines, makes A good (yet Impossible to Understand) Design....Uploads it.
While Someone like me, Draws a complete natural scene in a 3D Application, developes some models for it, makes it perfect, Works for hours and hours to complete it and then RENDER it which never takes less 03 - 04 hours and (Sometimes this whole process takes 5-7 days)Uploads It.

But the First one is accepted happily and the other one is rejected without any reason.

Although, Both of them have worked hard, put time while creating them....But isn't it somewhat unjustice and Frustrating.

I have read through Greyhaze thread Too (Before Posting Mine)

Just to let you know, I've never received any emails from you.... could be I wasn't one of the Mods you emailed, but if I was on that list, something went wrong.

I've seen so many 3D line generated blob type grid-ma jigger thingy wallpapers on this site and everytime I just think 'what hell'... ANYHOW

The wallpaper section seems to cause so much controversy. Truth be told I think WC bit off a bit more than it could chew with the wallpaper section. There are plenty of sites out there that are JUST wallpaper sites, and they still have difficultly managing everything, so I can't imagine what it'd be like for the WC people.

Anyone is welcome to e-mail me their wallpapers for a critique (providing it's a polite request ). I have half a dozen in my inbox right now waiting for a reply which I'll be doing tomorrow. Just bear in mind Moderators are volunteers - I do this because I want to, not because I have to

IMHO: I have done a complete 180 on my thoughts of a Wall Section here...

Before I used to feel it was worth the hassels because good walls can inspire.

Now after a few years I have found I think it is not worth the time, effort, space, bandwidth or anything else to keep it around....

as mentioned there are plenty of sites with Wall sections..........

Well I for one am glad that there is a Wallpaper section. I feel the moderation helps maintain a level of quality, although it sounds like poor Xero here might have had a couple nice ones rejected.
However I only change my wallpaper every couple months or so, so it isn't a pressing need in my case. Just a convenience to have a diverse quality ion here at WinCustomize.

I do not doubt that some really nice works get rejected at times for various reason. But even with all those that get through which seem questionable and those that do not which seem questionable, it does not seem to matter on iota that many really great ones do make it and that just as many people bitched and complained when there wasn't any moderation as there is when moderation is in effect.

Seriously, it is a damned if do or don't situation here as far as walls go, logons, and bootskins are slowly making there way into that situation also. But at least those two are products produced by Stardock or another Modification App Developer, Walls are not. There are Hundreds of Thousands of Wall Paper sites so it seems at some point that if people do not wrap their mind around the fact that some will make it and some will not. This site is going to hit the point of diminishing returns on having the section at all.

Hell when my son was 6 he was given Linking Logs for a present, he really liked them and yet we had to constantly pick them up. I finally told him enough was enough and if he did not pick them up I would throw them out "Go ahead I don't want them" he said instead of cleaning up. They hit the trash faster than he could blink and he was not allowed to take them out, gone....

In some respects this is kind of the same thing. This is NOT a Wall Paper site and it never claimed to be. If someone has issue with a submission they are supposed to email the moderators and discuss it in private to keep the fighting and such away from the board. Dragging it to the board does nothing but cause problems over time.

So, if it was up to me, people would either accept the moderation, or follow the guides of communicating with the moderators via email or the damn thing would be gone. simple as that...

And yes I know that was not Xero's point in the thread, to bitch and such.

but it really should have been kept in email and off the board because all it does in the end is attract attention of those who seem to have nothing better to do than really get nasty about the site, admins, moderators and company...

anyway, I'll sit on my hands on this one from now on...

I'm confused. When I check your library, it says the author is COOOOOL. Is that you?

Anyway, I'm not the one who rejected your wall, but although it seems well made, and technically quite good, it's just not very nice, aesthetically.  Maybe too much blue in there.

Also, you must know that we tend to be more severe on landscapes. There's just too many of them, and frankly one landscape tend to look a lot like another.

i agree with pax .. from a user point of view, a land scape (unless is some massively strikeing scene that is a must have)is prety much like the rest .. while it may taken you a long time to make be aware that there are litterally thousands of land scape walls out there, and to cut down on band width and server space, the admins are very choosy on what gets through.

but i will say that every moderator ive met at WC dont refuse walls to be spiteful... they just have to main tain a level of high standards as well as make sure the wall section dont get to big to fast. and with as many walls as WC gets submitted daily,it would grow at a alarming rate as compared to the rest of the librarys...

so Xero. stick around, make a few more, talk to the guys here on techniques. i believe that in time you will get a wall posted. as long as you stick to it..

this is just my 2 cents

Maybe Stardock should start up another site, just for wallpapers, and we can keep the ones that are the walls designed to match certain skins on this site. That way, we keep the good stuff here on WinC, and all the other stuff goes to like, WallpaperCustomize.com or something.

Do we need yet another wallpaper site where everything is accepted? The multitude already on the net aren't enough?
