Bootskin file formats?

Umm, perhaps they've been downloaded as .zip than .bootskin? Perhaps you should save them to disk as files of type .bootskin and then run them? Alternatively extract them to a subdirectory of the main BootSkin directory.

Then I download them and unzip them, they are 2 picture files.

One is the main image, the other is the progress bar.

Then there is a file "bootskin" config file.

But the program only recognises a single bootscreen file.

These are bootscreen files downloaded from this site.

I feel like i am missing something simple.

Any suggestions?

It's a problem that SP2 seems to be causing. The files are being renamed when downloaded.

Step 1. File extension must not be hidden. If you're unsure what that means, open Control Panel > View tab > "Hide extensions for known file types" should be un-checked.

Step 2. Right-click the file and select Rename. Change the zip part of the name to bootskin. Example skin1.zip = skin1.bootskin
If you get a warning about changing the extention, click OK

Step 3. Double-click the renamed file.

From what others have said, after a while, WIndows will stop renaming the files when you download them.

Correction to above comment.... I left out an important piece of info...

Apart from the file renaming, I think I just had them in the wrong folder.
