Colonizing Question

Once a Civilization colonizes a planet in a system can you not then colonize one of the other planets that they have not colonized in that system? If this is the case, I would recommend as an expansion type change. The civilation who first colonizes the system gets credit for owning it, but if you then backfill for them and produce enough influence it would be another way to take over another system without fighting it out. Maybe someone could point out the error of my ways here of why this wouldn't work, or someone who knows the game better could maybe come up with a better way of doing this.

Hi HercMighty,

After colonising one planet in a system, proceed as normal with your next colony ship. You will see a colony ship symbol appearing at the planet list on your right. Move the symbol over the next planet/s you would like to colonise and click. It will be colonised.

Or did I read you wrongly?

Example:

Yor colonize a planet in Habal A 18.
There is a 17, 16, 15 left to be colonized.
Can the humans colonize one of these?

Okay I found you can't. So does my suggestion above for an expansion make sense? Or is it not feasible?

Eh, I'm sure we can colonise those systems, Herc.

What happens when you send in your 2nd colony ship?

I think he wants you to be able to have multiple races in the same system (but on different planets).

I'd imagine this is impossible, because a lot of things are handled on a 'system' basis rather than a 'planet' basis.

It just beeped at me and the ship did not move, there was one system left a 15.

Ok, it seems that I really didn't read you right.

Yeah, you can't share systems between two civs.

Suppose you can and both civs have ships in orbit. How would combat be resolved when war is declared? Both set of ships to leave orbit immediately?

There may other issues that I've not thought through on such a suggestion though.

If war was declared the two sets of ships would duke it out. Whichever took the most losses would then automatically then retreat out of the system. It would then be nice to have ground combat (or does it? I have only been playing for a week now and have had many start overs but I am getting the hang of it) and you could then invade the planet, or blockade the system and starve them out then take them over or by the planets giving up and surrendering or dying off. There are a few holes left and I realize this may be beyond the scope of them game but could you see the possibilities this would create?

It is an interesting suggestion, Herc. But is certainly needs a lot of thought before it could be implemented properly. Perhaps you can post your suggestion in the xpack suggestion sticky thread.

System ownership is all or nothing. If you can't flip them or use diplomacy to bargain for the system, then genocide is the only answer.

(Doing a Highlander impression) There can be only one! :)
