HELP!

I know the answer is probably so simple, but I cannot remember to save my life. How do I change the color of the font for my desktop icons in Windowz XP? It's white and the wallpaper I want to use is a light color.

Right click on your desktop and from the fly-out menu click 'Properties'
Click on the 'Appearance' tab on the Display Properties window.
Click on the 'Advance' button.
On the Item drop-down menu select 'Icon' and change the color (and even the font)

That is how I was doing it, but the color box is grayed out so I cannot select a color. Any idea why?

when you get to the 'advanced' tab, you need to click on 'other advanced controls'.

...in the dropdown box, choose 'Icon' ...then the greyed out area you mention will become active, and you can change the font, and it's background color.
