Hi

as a new player what do i have to or research to load troops on my transports?

You need to get the Transport military project by researching: Propulsion Theory -> Cold Fusion -> Impulse Drive

Then when you've built a transport, double click on it in orbit or click the launch button, and the loading dialog will pop up. You can use the slider or the mousewheel to adjust the amount of troops on the ship, then hit the launch button again and it will leave orbit.
