Galactic Civilizations Multiplayer

Is there an upcoming expansion pack that makes Galciv's multiplayer? If there is that would be great, thus it would put sentiet players against one-another to test their true mettle. It would challenge people in a way they thought not possible with the limited AI. Though there is the issue that these games would last to long. The Solution to this: Inexperienced players play on smaller maps and proffesionals play on whatever map size they want. Of coarse the option of map size would be the choosing of the host. Any thoughts on GalCiv's multiplayer?

You know, I notice some turns in GalCiv nothing happens and I hit enter... (usually after the initial rush of colonization, and the building of social/military projects phase)

....and sometimes that happens a lot...and I can easily pass turns that way...

But if I was playing against something else, I would have to wait and wait and wait just so I can hit the enter key again... :notsure:

This applies to PBEM too...GalCiv doesn't translate too well that way, I think. :p

Look pal(code monkey), I'm just making some suggestions and trying to find out if there are other people out there who "aren't" to wussy for multiplayer and that want to make this dream come true. I don't need low jack pecimists coming in here, insulting the power of consumer demand, telling me that there will be no galcivs multiplayer, this is MY thread. I can discuss what ever I want to, GOT IT? You don't like it, you can leave.

Ah,Wdll,
I see that you are a good observer. and you do make a good arguament for both sides.(as you stated earlier) all I'm saying is that stardock can make multiplayer without harming single player in any way. It is possible and it will be done. :)

There is NO upcoming multiplayer expansion.

Yes, Stardock can make a multiplayer game without harming the current single player game. They have said as much. BUT it would stop them developing other games such as political machine and elemental. The decision is their's (as it is their money they risk), and they have said NO.

During Beta they held a poll to let people decide where programming resources should go. Multiplayer was one of the options and received very few votes!

Might they change their mind in future? No idea. They said no to ship design and the latest poll is asking people's opinion for Galciv2, so anything is possible.

I believe multiplayer for GalCiv would be a big mistake .I played other multiplayer civs games (like Civ3) and also HOI(not civ but WW2) . I found out I spend more time trying to get a good game started then playing one. here is some of the problems with TBS multiplayers : 1) spend alot of time waiting 2) players quit just when things get interesting 3) LAG 4) cant finish in one sitting so 5) the biggest pain is trying get everyone back to continue the game : It easyer have a family reunion than to continue... So i believe Stardock did the right thing by making (spend cash) the single player game better.

At the end of the day, we don't make things we ourselves wouldn't want to play too.  I wouldn't play a multiplayer version of GalCiv and neither would anyone else on the team.
