Newbie question

I keep getting "no resources" popping up. How do I prevent this?

I'll take a shot at this. :)

There are two possibilities. One, your empire has less than -500bc in its treasury. You'll have to adjust your tax revenues and expenditures in order to gain a positive net income. There are many other ways to earn money, but it would take a while to list them all. Two, you have the sliders for either military or social expenditures too low. Even if they are set to 10%, it might not be enough to be distributed among all of your colonies.

Oh mighty experts, have I missed anything? ;)

(edit: I done said less than (positive) 500bc. Ain't that silly?)

Paul, what are you doing to get the message?

I have not seen that message very often. What Kit is describing is a treasury low. Your message is completely different.

I don't even know what message that is.

Paul, can you describe that message in some detail for me?

I notice that if my military or social expenditure is at a low setting (try 1 or 2%) I sometimes see "no resources" when I check individual colony displays. This is the second possibility I suggested. If it's really a pop-up message, it must be something else.

Oh, I see. It's in your planet view.

Kit is right, if your expenses does not exceed 1 bc in social or military, you get no resources. Of course, this might be intentional.

I'm a newbie also, and I've also encountered this message several times. I thought it had something to do with government spending, but I don't recall where the military and social sliders are. Which screen do I control those from?

And of course, given the plurality of problems, they would constitute a plurality of sourceSSSSSS. AAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Don't mind me. I just don't feel like clicking the edit button anymore and I'm also losing it. ;)
