who will reach a million?

Since we just saw the first person to break 100,000 points in the metaverse last night (Staffa, by the way, with 101,294 points, with RayTheWanderer just 30 points shy of 100,000). we should now place bets as to what Empire will break 1,000,000 points first. As of right now, the scores of the top three Empires are:

G.R.O.S.S.......................861269.2 (needs 138730.8)
Fellowship of the Ring..........840491.2 (159508.8)
Mid-Western Confederation.......717205.3 (282794.7)

this is going to be a kinda hard bet, since they all need over a hundred thousand points to break a million, and all 3 empires are pretty successfull in getting new players. my guess will have to be G.R.O.S.S., mainly because i didnt like The Lord of the Rings book, and I fell asleep during the movie :(

Well, the top 3 empires are pretty close to a million now. maybe this will give them a nice goal in their recruiting campaigns, and also encourage the current members to submit "one more game".

Hmm let's see, Hairy the pundit is placing his bets on GROSS because he hates a particular book and because he slept during a movie.

Alright, I'm placing my bets on the Fellowship because I ate chicken for dinner and wore a green shirt to work.

I'm eating breakast... and it's actually breakfast time! Therefore my BCs are on G.R.O.S.S.! :D

(edit: it's just funnier this way)

woa! that was just a joke! i placed my bet on G.R.O.S.S. mainly just because I had to place a bet on an empire if im going to post a thread encouraging others to bet on who will win. how can i expect others to bet if i dont bet myself? as of right now, the chance of any of the top 3 empires to beat 1,000,000 first is pretty much random, they all need to cover over 100,000 points, and that is a lot of points. I picked G.R.O.S.S. over the other 2 simply because i know not everone likes Lord of the Rings, and also not everyone lives in the Midwest, and G.R.O.S.S. doesnt have any "immediate" image of itself except for the theme "Evil".
Just because im admitting that Lord of the Rings doesnt intrest me should not cause any problems.

True, admitting that you don't like Lord of the Rings should not cause problems. However, the fact that you don't like Lord of the rings is *evidence* of your problems.

Time for those evil GROSS mind games. Everyone will think one mil is so important to use that we will race at breakneck speed and recruit like mad to get there at all costs. True, some of us in GROSS will. But we are more likely to think that the other two empires will find it even more important to reach that goal first and throw all caution to the wind. This is where our dedicated squad of troublemakers who are not uber-scorers will put a collective foot out to trip the competitors as they run past! :)

Place your bets early while the odds are good! Can you correctly guess who will make the first million?

GROSS has taken an early lead, and have 3 of the top 5 scorers in the Metaverse! But how dependent are they on these three mighty players to sustain their power?

The Fellowship appears to have quality in depth, and good morale. If the rallying cry is sounded, they may yet rise like a tidal wave, and swamp the GROSS empire!

The MWC (Mid-West Confed) has twice as far to go as the GROSS, making them the underdog. Who knows, maybe the Unaligned Overlords will step in?

The CSF (Canadian Star Fed) has Canadians in it. Those crazy people can always surprise ya!

The EA (European Alliance) has France, so obviously, they are doomed.

--- The Odds ---
GROSS 1.5 : 1
Fellowship 2 : 1
MWC 7 : 1
CSF 5 : 1
EA 200 : 1
EA - France 20 : 1
Anyone Else 50 : 1
Specific Someone Else 100 : 1

Minimum accepeted bet is 5 BC (Billion Credits). Sorry, no bets over 500 TC (Trillion Credits) will be accepted!

Let the Races begin! LOL

to bad we cant actually use our scores as money to bet with, that would deffinatly make things interesting.
How about instead to have "Empire Medals", where the empire would get a medal for reaching a milestone, such as beating 1 Million?

my bet actually goes for "Quantonia" or "The Flemish" LOL

I vote for G.R.O.S.S. simply because they are cruel and I'm a firm believer in the Master Race technology. There isn't an alien species that we can't conquer and enslave.

Interesting! I have the incling that the GC computer AI will actually develope self awareness on everybodies PC before the witching hour and kill us all! ;p

Its just a theory (not a preminition) . . .

What odds would I get on that? 10^100000 to one?

Corsus,

The Metaverse gives us the ability to form empires. Empires are basically guilds if you like made up of groups of players or overlords. The empire score is a summation of all the scores of the individual overlords.

The biggest 3 empires in the Metaverse currently are the Fellowship, GROSS and the Mid-Western Confederation. The guys and gals above are speculating on the empire who would reach 1 million Metaverse points first. You can see the standings if you click the Top Empires tab in the Metaverse page.

Hey Rabid Rob and Fulgrymm, why don't ya join GROSS and be part of a unique and never before celebrated victory. Because if you are not part of it you, um, are not part of it. :D

Another thing: couldn't an evil player play with peoples minds by joining an empire so that they got to 1,000,000, and then quitting and joining the second empire so that they got to over 1,000,000 and the first empire fell under. So my question is, does it count if you cross the line, but don't stay there?

Rabid Rob's the banker, Chris. He has to stay neutral for the time being.

Hmm, the Fellowship seems like a good bet now at 2:1 after regaining the lead.

General question, Killa, or plotting a strategy? :D

Killa - I hope you're not suggesting that we hop over to the Fellowship for 48 hrs, get them to 999,990 - and then hop back..... :D

He's the bookmaker of an illegal gambling racket. That is right up G.R.O.S.S. es alley.

Yeah, bookmaker's the word I was looking for.

Over in my part of the world, we call them bankers. Kinda appropriate - insert banker jokes here.

My BC's are on G.R.O.S.S. because if I don't bet for them, I might lose my position as their "official" rooting section! (Actually, I'd vote for them anyway! ;p How can you lose when Spaceman Spiff's on your side? ;) )
