Technically, you are a pirate themed empire. Probably the highest ranking empire that is space themed is the Jedi Republic.

But since the Fellowship and G.R.O.S.S. have role-played explanations why we are in space, we'll do nicely. ;)

Actually, my efforts to write in the Fellowship as a space-faring empire always face difficulty due to a lack of Fellowship members explaining exactly how their magic and space technology work together.

As for GROSS, it has always been a space empire. The first theme was dominate the aliens by whatever means possible. Then it changed into space pirates that still dominate aliens, but also have to eek out their lawless existence in the middle of empires that compete with us. That is my take on the situation, at least.

Yes. In fact that's why the author of the trillogy the name comes from put em all in space ships and made em go shoot a bunch of aliens. Great Space Books you really ought to read them. I think it's called lord of the space Rings. Why I heard Samwise was a crackshot pilot.


Gunner. The name Get Rid of Slimy AlienS has always been spaced bassed. Comes to us from C and H. Later, We got the pirate flag in battle but have always been known as sort of the rogues of the metaverse anyway, so it seemed to fit.

Funny that is... never quite thought of pirates with my space ships... That just brings bad memories of Disney's Treasure Planet. Big Pirate Ships in space... work they do not.

This is the type of thread I'm talking about. Ya bunch of nerds. I clicked on this hoping to see some highly intelligent, evolved discussion about bovine consumption patterns in GalCiv and instead, it's "Useless empire babble thread #5,634,167".

Who cares? Who really cares? What does an empire membership have to do with the game? Does it make a hill of beans of difference when you're playing?

Hmm.. Too far gone you are... yes the dark side has consumed you. Oh well I must do or do not so here goes...

It makes playing have a purpose, you are playing for the team and not just to be playing, that can extend the time prior to shelving.

The fun you can have, OFF game is almost as good as in game if you find an Empire with a theme you like. If you are a FotR fan join that Empire, Star Wars JR, etc...

Of course it dosn't change the game mechanics, but like I said, it gives you something to be playing for.

Never mind the fact that some of the most helpful people on the board are avid empire participants who play a big part in keeping this community vibrant and strong. It is totally alright for someone to be anti-empire, but trying to take the empires out of the forum would gut it. It may as well be another dry boring tech support board or some whiner board about what is wrong with the game if that came to pass.
