Haunted or Hacked?

Hello!

I've had something really wierd happen to me the last few times I've played GC. The sliders in the screens are moving around by themselves! Sometimes quickly, sometimes slow! Anybody else have this problem . . . I ddin't think so. YES it's true and I was completely freaked out . . .

The last two times it happened however I noticed that turning off my cable modem stoped it immediately. Am I being hacked by some third party alien or is this a supernatural element in the game? Are there any know security issues in GC and thier stardock software because I've never had this happen befor . . .

Please, Just Make it STOP . . . ! ! !

It's possible someone has got some sort of remote control software or trojan onto your system.

Are you running some sort of firewall?
How up to date is your AV software?
Have you tried running the GRC "Shields up" routine - go to http://www.grc.com

Firewall, AV, GRC ? What are these things? Trojans really exist?

But seriously, thanks for the link. We've run a number of sweeps including Trojan Hunter, Pest Patrol, Ad-aware, Spy-bot killer and a few others that I can't remember . . . I have Nortens as AVS (not very good I'll admit) and ZoneAlarm as my Firewall. When the later is on it never happens so I think your right . . . there must be some kinda backdoor access on this PC.

Despite all our efforts we can't find a darn thing though? It's a puzzlement . . . My hubbies been trying to fix it for a few days now. :notsure:

I would do that if I was at home, but alas I am at work. They make me do things here . . . it's really wierd! They give me money and make me do stuff all day long . . . Its not fair! I could be at home playing GC but nooooo, for some reason I must come to this place . . . nearly everyday! LOL

I know the feeling (it's nice being a teacher - long hols!) - but I can do it at some point in time more convenient. I'd guess you are on the other side of the world, so there's about a 12 hour time difference between us....
