http://www.angelfire.com/theforce/jedi_republic/
For those of you who have linked to the old JR site on your pages or Favorites list (we hope!), please update your links. The site is complete, but we'll be adding to it over the next few weeks. If you have any comments or suggestions, feel free to post them here or in the regular Jedi Republic communication channel:

P.S. Today's web updates are in place, including a new Death Star mod from Dooku and a promotion to Jedi Guardian for Qui-Gon. Check 'em out.

StBlasius, I changed your photo back to the standard logo as per your request. I have to admit that it looked kind of blasphemous up there next to a lightsaber...

More updates to the website, based on the changes mentioned in our regular Empire thread. The Jedi Republic is clearly becoming a major force in the galaxy. We have a ways to go before reaching the Euros, but an active community makes all the difference...

To all of our members, including the new recruits: If you would like to see any changes to the website, feel free to post your comments here. May the Force be with y'all.

If you're looking for a host with actual tools, I believe Geocities offers some.

I've used Geocities before...they are actually not as good as they used to be before Yahoo! took them over.

I think I'm going to go with Angelfire, and do some work on it. I don't have FrontPage or anything. I usually just create using HTML, which sometimes leaves a little to be desired. I think I'll try using a premade template, though to get started. It will probably still take a while. :notsure:

w00t! I have to keep up with you, my former padawan!

Not meaning to knit-pick, but shouldn't Dooku's lightsaer have his signature bent handle? If you want me to do the artwork, just tell me what you need.

OK, I will bow to the pressure and work on a "limp" saber for Dooku. He deserves the extra effort, as he's only a smidgen away from the 30,000 mark and Jedi Master rank. I'm pretty sure I should have a pic that works, Qui-Gon, but thanks for the offer. If he takes "limp" the wrong way I'll give you a couple minutes head start before mentioning which way you went.

All:

Think of these as "honorary" sabers for the non-swordsmen in the group - Tarkin, Admiral Sherbert, etc. A Jedi, even if he's on a ship or heading our security forces, should have a badge of honor.

The lightsaber schtick was just a nifty way of working the game alignment into the screens, as the blue happy faces and red angry ones tie nicely into the saber spectrum seen in the movies. Add yellow for neutral and a couple shades of blue and red, and we're there.

I had considered using a double-bladed "Maul" saber for Pure Evil, but settled on dark red as a quick fix. This may be changed down the road if the interest level stays high.

For those of you with neutral, non-SW-themed nicknames, give me some ideas on what you'd like to see for your pics!

Lord Dooku,

Your new saber is in place on the website. Good job on the recent submissions, and congrats on stepping up to Challenging!

Further reseach indicates that everybody else is using a lightsaber handle patterned after Qui-Gon's. And here I just picked it because I had a clear photo and it looked cool. As Dooku's was the tough one to change (requiring a redesign of the page format!!!), I'd be happy to follow Lucas' lead and give anybody who makes Jedi Master rank (30,000 Mpts) a custom saber handle, with a custom blade color for Senior Advisor (50,000 Mpts). Mace Windu had to work for that purple blade and so do we. How's that for motivation?

Master Yoda: Certainly. 30,000 Mpts, please. We can't have special considerations based on Empire rank, can we? :D

Cool saber, now I just need 22000 more points to change the color to red! Thank you.

Oops, a typo. Master Yoda, that's 50K, not 30. LOL

Bye the bye, Part IV of Master Yoda's A Brief History of the Jedi Republic epic is now on the website. Enjoy.

Hey, Obi Wan, I responded in the FOTR thread, but I'll post it here as well:

If you're still interested in those ideas we talked about yesterday, drop me a line.

I am interested, but my real life work schedule precludes from tackling this in the near future. I'll keep it in mind the next time I get bored and want to write a proggy for fun.

Yes, I'm one of those sick programmers that programs for fun as well. ;)

Well, surrounded by Jedi, wizards, halflings, pirates, and one-time superheroes, I don't think that enjoying programming is going to make you run the risk of looking like a geek. I look forward to working with you on this - sounds interesting.

Cool, I might throw together a proof of concept soon, just to make sure what I think can theoretically be done can actually be done.

My Fellow Jedi:

As I've mentioned elsewhere, real life intrudes upon me and I probably won't be able to check the threads for the next couple of days. The website can probably shuffle along until early next week without another update. Good luck, good gaming.

H5O,

I'm going to be off the boards for a day or two, but I can ZIP up the whole website when I get back and email it to you, if you like. It'll quickly be outdated at the rate we're doing updates, but it would give you an actual model to fiddle with.

I think I only need the page that I'll be building dynamically each night for the time being.

I'm trying to think of a good way to swap out the needed information, when someone gains a rank. I could just build the entire page, but then if you want to make formatting changes I've got to change the code, it's more flexible if we don't have to hardcode anything.

Send me just that page, for now. Maybe something will jump out at me. Oh, and the dependent images, of course.
