Still no submit page......

I have played the game since it came out and heard the complaints.
Mostly peoples scores not showing up in the Metaverse
But for me though I am connected to the internet when I hit done I do not get a submit screen...it goes back to the main menu. Now from here I can hit the metaverse button and it connects me directly to the metaverse...so I am thinking it knows it is connected....no firewall through a dsl line.
Has there been any solutions to mine and perhaps a few others problem??

See below for correspondence between Cari and TexasTim who has a similar problem.

TexasTim, it sounds like the the API that we use to check the internet connection is failing, so it's just not opening the submit screen at all.

CariElf,

Thanks for the info on the fact that the routine you use to check for an internet connection is not detecting it my case now. But do you have any idea why that might be? Would it help if I set up an endless ping session in the background to the metaverse? There wouldn't happen to be some kind of initialization file someplace that still thinks I am connected via Cable instead of DSL? I'd like to try some things to fix this because I now have 3 saved games to submit to the metaverse and it's annoying that I can no longer do so.

TexasTim: I'll have to ask the guy who wrote the internet detection code. Do you have the kind of DSL that you have to logon to? I don't know if that makes a difference, but that way if Ian asks me about it, I'll have the answer.

Texas Tim: Ian said "Basically it looks at the routing table, if it's an internal IP, it may return false." So he's going to look for a better way to do it. Hopefully we can get that code into the next build.

CariElf,

Thanks for talking to Ian about my problem.

The answer to your question is: Yes, I have to log onto my DSL (I hate DSL BTW but had to go to it after moving to an area where cable was not available) account but I log in immediately after booting my computer and stay connected 24/7 (well I attempt to but DSL has an annoying habit of logging people off when they least expect it which is why I tried an endless ping session).

TexasTim: Well, Ian has to get the new IsInternetAvailable code done for his own project, so I don't think that it will be very long before he gets it done and I can add it to Gal Civ.

Thanks Ray....so I am assuming that it is still an issue and is yet unsolved but is being looked after.

That's right, Caracatus. Keep your fingers crossed that it would be resolved soon.

I used to have the exact same problem. Now, when the end movie is playing, I just alt+tab out and start up a browser session and then alt+tab back and I have not had a problem with it since.

I hope that helps.
