Mod question for the devs

I have a mod with the following tech additions:

WarpDrive (pre-requisite)
Transwarp Theory
Transwarp Physics
Transwarp Applications +10 research
Transwarp Drives + 1 speed
Wormhole Theory
Wormhole Physics
Wormhole Applications +10 research
Wormhole Manipulation +1 speed; +10 trade(faster deliveries)

Does my creating this and using it make my game invalid in the metaverse?

A second question is: When you have an upgrade, should I finish all my games and submit and then upgrade or does it not matter?

thanks,

Those look ok.  Did you submit them to the library for approval?

We try not to break save games from previous versions in upgrades, but sometimes we have to make a change to the save structures that makes it incompatible with previous versions, or make a change to something that affects gameplay so drastically that it can make continuing an older save game difficult.  I think that most of the time, we've remembered to warn people if their save games won't work in the new versions.

Stardock Central allows you to easily archive the current version of Gal Civ before downloading the new update, and you can also back up your save games if you're concerned.  That way, if you load up your save game in the new update, and it goes haywire, you can revert to the old version and load your backed up save game.

Ok, I can submit them for approval, but that doesn't answer the question explicitly. If I don't submit it, does that mean any game using it is "illegal" and not going to score? Or will it just score and only if I get an anomolous score will it be questioned and nerfed?

Thank you on the answer for the versions.

If you don't get them approved it doesn't automatically make your games illegal.  It will only do that if you mod stuff to the point where it imbalances the game.  The approval process is the formal equivalent to what you did in this post--asking if your mod is ok to use with the metaverse--and also makes your mod available to the other users if it is approved.

I asked if you submitted it to the library, because if you had, then I could download it, give it a closer look, and approve it if I don't find any gotchas.

how do yopu know if a mod or collection of mods will make your games imbalanced... without having to wait till you submit your score and then get an anomolous score...

eg: if i d/load all the mods i can find and install them... will that make my game imbalanced ? I can't find anywhere where it sets the totals of that makes the games unbalanced...

Do you know what i mean.. and am concerned about... this is why i havn't d/loaded any mods as i don't want to invalidate my games

If it's on the library it shouldn't unbalance your game. At least thats my understanding.

I submited 2 anomalies to the library and so far no answer or post of them have showed up yet any clue why?

Mayito: probably no one has had time to look at the library lately.

BlueSteel: if you avoid the planet quality ones you're generally ok.

End of quote

I can't claim to have an athourative answer, but speed mods of +1 or +2 should be safe. +3 or more speed from a single mod is less certain.

Range probably follows the same guidelines (not that range mods are particularly useful: I usually can't make use of all of the base ones in a Gigantic galaxy).

In general, mods that do less than the highest existing base GC mod are probably safe. (+40 for most abilities, +1 for Trade Routes, Range, and Speed. Trade Route boni are pointless, though, as the existing ones already get your routes within one UPIssue of max routes if you qualify for the alignment techs.)

How about Party mods? I'm using the one that was in the library and my current government is the Scientologists, they're similar to the technologists except their bonuses for research and sensors are +30 and +2, respectively. I don't want to go through the effort of conquering the very powerful Arcean Dominion and Torian Confederacy only to find that I get yet another anomalous score.

As Arturus Magi said, speed mods of +1 or +2 should be fine, as long as you don't have a ton of them.

That party mod doesn't sound bad since it's not far above what the technologists have.

Basically, any mod or combination of mods that doesn't imbalance the game is ok.  But if you have class 70 planets, don't expect to be able to submit your game.
