GC Comic Strip . . .

Well why not . . .

Here's an email address for my hubbie Paul. So far he's done some cute little pictures of the Torians (Look a little bit like Zowe and Ernie from seasame street playing peekaboo, how nice) and some lude ones of Yorish women feeling each others biceps! (He's a bit of a worry sometimes) . . .

[email protected]

Any Short stories suitable for a Comic Strip are welcome or indeed if you've done some doodles yourself please send them too . . .

Also we'll need a place to host this (perhaps I should have mentioned that first). I'd imagine each issue will only have 4 or 5 frames at most . . . and will be edited/formated to whatever window size is available . . .

All comments and suggestions welcome just post here :)

Oh almost forgot . . . you can fax to me if your in Australia (or even if your not) just drop me an email first . . .

Has Paul read any of the forum stories, Cotal? I'm certain it's hard to follow if one is not involved, but I'll rack my brains to figure out a decent starting point. Once I have some past storylines selected, would you like me to compile them and e-mail them to Paul? :)

I'll try and encourage him to do a little more reading tonight. Yes, yes a starting point . . . thats a good place to beguin! I didn't mean that to sound . . . um . . . well the way it sounded, kinda like I'm completely stupid . . .

Moving right along um . . . in his sketches the Torians kinda look a bit 'Dr Seuzie' if you know what I mean (build wise) with little pregnant looking tummies, and the Yor look ridiculously robotic kinda like a computer thats just gotten up in the morning and seems to be turned insideout? The Drengin basical look like giant chicken people (they are the scariest of the lot) and his preliminary sketches of the Altarians look like human pincushions with tatoos and pircings on and through every concievable part of thier bodies! He hasn't done anything with the Arceans yet . . . I shudder to think.

E-mail us whatever you have when ever you have it, dunka! (that's swiss you know)

Kit! Like Wow! Thanks alot we are modifying some of the illustrations to suite the tack you've taken. I really, really, really (sorry that means ALOT . . . I'm no Shakingthespear) like the scene you've come up with . . . you, yes you! (pointing her finger at Kit like Robert DeNero in Analyze This) Your good! . . . Yes! Yes you are!

We should have the first edition up laid out by early next week (Pauls a perfectionist, he's still trying the get the Arceans right . . . basically they look like Mud (Grogan) people surrounded by flies and noxious fumes . . . ichy yucky bla!)

Anyway hopefully well get a chance this weekend to send you the sketches so far . . .

Thanks again . . .

PS Regarding this whole project. The cut scenes in GC are nice but a bit you know . . . bland. These illustrations really bring the civilizations to life (albeit in a humorous vain). What I wouldn't give for a secret patch that changes the in game diplomacy screen every once in a while (I don't know on a full moon perhaps) so the animated embassidors do something out of the ordinary . . . Geez that might freak people out TOO much . . .

(i.e. seeing the Big Furry Guy chowing down on some Altarian earlobes . . . perhaps even offering me one . . . hehe . . . to which I'd say 'Yes please! Mr Fluffy')

Every other decent game has easter eggs built in for Easter and Christmas. I just assumed I'd see a Drengin in a Santa Claus suit and a Torian with fluffy ears.

You mean they're not built in already? Oh well, it's still a few months before Christmas. The devs have some time.

Hehe, I'm just imagining someone take a bag of Altarian earlobes, chew on them for a while, then contact the Altarians - forgetting what they've got in their hands...

Kit, you got a fax there? I can send you a pic (not yet rendered)? E-mail me your fax number if you have one . . . um otherwise we could scan in and send you what we've got so far.

Quack! yes indeed like that South Park Episode that mysteriously appeared on the launch of Tiger Woods 1999. LMAO what a master stroke that was, I'll never forget that . . .

Fax... um... gosh. Is there any funny way to say "no, I don't have a fax"? Lemme see...

Gosh, :VOMIT: I don't seem to have a fax here.

Heh... :notsure: well I just wanted to try the new emoticon.

I'd be happy to host a strip or two on my website, but AOL gives me very little space to work with. Perhaps someone else has a better location? Anyone? Anyone?

In regards to this project, I see myself as contributing short storylines (either new or translated from fan fiction here on the forum) and bits of artwork. When it comes to webspace, the Pirate Lagoon is pushing my limits.

Again, anyone? Anyone?

Anyone?

(edit: couldn't get the :VOMIT: to :VOMIT: )

And can you still get on chat Cotal? Perhaps we can work some more details out. I'll be in #GALCIV for a while longer. :)

perhaps . . . If we make it they will come . . .

Do do do do do . . . I really need a musical stave!

:VOMIT: , oh excuse me (use no spaces), Well have a site up in October but I can't imagine it would talk up all that much space 72 dpi aligned for a 600x800 default mabye 14 by 25 cm?

I'm at work on a dumbie terminal (can't DL Stardock here) . . . but thats a great suggestion and a better way to discuss this . . . Otherwise we'd be spoilerizing it . . . hehe I luv that green puke gif

I should be on #Gav later though or whenever we can find a suitable mutual time.

I could -probably- put it on my uni account's webpage - I wouldn't have time to do any fancy HTML, but if you just send me the webpages and pics, I could upload it easily enough.

What stories get done would depend on how much time Paul's got. Imagine trying to translate the whole posse thread into a cartoon...

Cool TheQuack! That'll be all we need . . .

At the moment Paul's doing mostly story board stuff which is keeping him generaly busy but the work load is quite variable from day to day and he seems pretty keen to help out.

Admitedly I had the notion that the comic strip would revolve around 'truisms' and ironies in the game and maybe provide an insight into the civilization's cultures in a casual/comical manner with no more wording than the weekend funnies. I think we can work in some of the local personalities and politics along the way but as you mentioned TheQuack that's a much more elaborate thing to create . . .

Kit's come up with a good starting point in the script he sent us yesterday, where it branches off to from thier is anyones guess.

This comic strip sounds really cool. Would love to see it when it's ready.

End of quote

Well the wanton is putting me down for the night. I'll throw out some times for... uh... Friday:

8am for you = 6pm for me

noon for you = 10pm for me

6pm for you = 4am for me (I was in the Army. I can make things happen... if I don't eat wanton)

8pm for you = 6am for me

Pick one if it works for ya (you too Quack if you IRC) and lemme know. Also, any chance you can get Paul there with ya when you're on chat?

Hey whats the chances of this Comic being Posted at CDG? This sounds really interesting and the rest of our members might think so as well. If he or you are interested please stop in at CDG Galciv forums. Here is the link: http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/tbs/gc

Heck, maybe I will setup forums just for this Comic if it is as funny as it sounds. Not to sure about the Torian women touching each other, if I would want that one posted, but funny never the less. :HOT:

Desert Fox they were actually Yor women, in the strip Torians are Neut or Trigendered (its hard to say going by appearences thats up to our panel of experts)! Also that naughty lurid scene (of robotic Yorish women throwing caution to the wind) has been omited, I wonder what classification we should aim for? Regarding violence more than anything else . . . it is an issue, I suppose.

First drafts drawn and in the hands of the comic crew . . . *** for Paul ;) Thanks. And thankyou Kit for your everything too!

Desert Fox I'm sure we'd be happy if not eger to have it hosted everywhere possible! It's all good advertizing for GC and good local cultural enrichment! And your forum rocks out! Is that right, I'm trying to be hip . . .
